Well what can i say it was just truley amazing! We had spent a week in Orlando Forida having fun in the parks. so having a week in the sunshine of antigua was just what we needed!

We arrivied at about 2pm on a Friday afternoon into Antigua airport and by 3pm we had our bags & got thorugh immigration and were sitting in a taxi on our way to Galley Bay. Its a set price of $20 plus tip! We had a very chatty driver who gave us a tour along the way which was very interesting.

We arrivied to check in and greeted with a rum punch and whisked off on our gold buggy to our fantastic suite! Richard was our guide and gave us the most fantastic tour around the grounds. We arrived at our villa (No. 49) and i had my breath taken away by the views from our room. We were 2 steps from the beautiful white sand and crystal blue sea! We didnt even unpack, we just got into our swimming gear and dived into the sea. It was so calm and just the most amazing sea i have ever seen. It was exactly like the post cards you see!

The room was perfect, we were on the ground floor which i would fully reccommend. A huge bed & bathroom which was cleaned daily. It did get a bit sandy eache day from coming in and out but that was soon gone once swept up!

I have just read a few reports before writing this and i have to disagree about the Staff. They are what made the holiday for us. They could not have been more friendly! But without beeing too intrusive! Miles the head waiter was fantastic and nothing was a problem for him.

I dont know where to begin with the food. Wow!! I ate myself silly all week. My husband is not a big food person but enjoyed every meal in Galley Bay. Plenty of fruit & drinks any time available. The breaksfasts are to die for! Yummy pancakes & mapel syrup. The Caribbean BBQ was a great night and again lots of lovely local fish available. The staff again were fantastic at explaining everything to us.

They all took so much pride in their jobs and workplace and very proud of their country which was lovely to see. We took a taxi into St Johns for the morning and expored around the shops. Fantastic Jewellary bargins to be got!

The weather was amazing. We arrivedt o about 85 degrees and it never lowered. We had one day it rained pretty much all of the day but it was still very hot. When it did rain it took about 5 mins to dry up it was that hot!

The wildlife around the place was great. plenty of frogs & lizards. The noise of the frogs in the evenings was incredible! But the sea and waves drowned them out at bedtime!

We are more beach people so only poped up to the pool once but it was very nice too! The water sports was well organised and the sea was far from choppy so plenty of swimming too.

We were a honeymoon couple and cant wait to return. We could not find fault with anything and as i said before the staff are what made it such a fantastic holiday! Enjoy.

Let me start by saying that flying into Antigua was absolutely breathtaking, it was our first visit to this lovely island. The airport was very clean, organized and customs, was smooth... the taxi area and not having a ride ready was not pleasing ..it did take a 1/2 hour to get a ride.. they said the taxis were all taken because the cruise ships were in..

GB is beautiful, we booked the premium suite, worth every $$. We loved the view and being able to walk right out on the patio that had nice loungers and tables, a few steps off the beach.. which on this side of the beach is very shelly. The other side is better and soft... not so many rocks, new addition side.....
The beds are o.k.. linens o.k.. furniture a bit out dated. Bathrooms are large, double showers, sinks, and huge tub...very generous with towels. (Pool towels they run out of often, however) I always tipped the maids, they did nice towel arrangements and fresh flowers in the rooms, which I enjoy very much... turn down service was disappointing, they don't clean up at all, dirty glasses or refresh dirty towels, sand etc..

The food was fair, do try the soups and local dishes, they were yummy. The Gauguin' restaurant was very romantic and very interesting.. so beautiful.. hard to find words to express.. one of our favorite places ... mosquito's are not bad....bring spray and if you get bit tell the staff they will light candles..

They do offer room service for breakfast, after the 3rd day, they asked me if my coffee maker was broke..??? I couldn't believe it... we had coffee and monkey bread every morning on the patio, tipped them well... little birdies love the sugar packets..:) you'll see.. very fun to watch...

The staff were off key the first week, short staffed perhaps, tired and indifferent.. we will not go back because of this.. a few stood out to be helpful and outstanding, we tipped them well. Nobody really goes out of their way to be helpful or really pleasant.. the second week was a different story, all of a sudden there was staff and smiles, how are you? we didn't know what happened..then we heard the owners were there...

The pool area was fabulous, the best ever, the garden walks were beautiful. various kinds of Palm trees.. awesome...

I do want to comment that the snorkeling on the right of the property was great..we saw alot more than expected.. the ocean was beautiful, rough last few days.. couldn't go in for almost a week.. surfers came ..neat to watch..

We did 1 side trip to Prickly Pear Island, email them and make reservations if you can, they will take the taxi fare 38.00 off your ticket price for you. We had GB call for us not knowing they would charge us $30,00 to make the call. What a great day this was, and it poured rain all day... loved the people and experience, went snorkeling.. very good.. saw sooo much...swam with some turtles, they were beautiful... then they made us a fabulous local luncheon BBQ.. bring your own towels though...

For our anniversary we went to Chez Pascals for their famous Lamb Rack dinner for two... they decorated our table with hearts and flowers, very nice.. their seafood bisque was in a pastry that was to die for, goat cheese salad, and a bottle of wine, YUM..my husband ending up eating the lamb rack for two by himself..:)
Our dinner bill was approx 250.00 US..pretty expensive.. no French music in the back round, soft rock.. ???

Galley Bay is a beautiful resort, we were not happy with the service or people there , Ian was polite and seemed to be overseeing the property , our young bellman Hodge actually made the difference .. he is a gem..

it is very relaxing and most couples are older, GB has so many special romantic spots for just the 2 of you, they really have a nice property. Great sunsets too..

No one really said hello when we got there, other than ck in and No one really said good bye but ck out...

Neither one of us had ever been out of the country and now we are spoiled to no end. We wanted a quiet getaway for our honeymoon and that's what we got. The cottages were perfect. So much in fact, we are now looking into getting our own splash pool.

The service was impecable (thanks Stuart and Natasha). The food was beyond excellent. We came in with extremely pampered pallates from New Orleans, and were completely blown away by the cuisine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were a treat every time. Dishes and foods we normally wouldn't try, we did and were rewarded tenfold. There was not a bad choice on any menu. I will also now search the States for a reliable Wadadli vendor (it's the local beer and is great with a lime or lemon)

The ocean was a little rough, but the beach was perfect. No vendors, just peace and qiuet. If you wanted to start up a conversation, the bar was accomodating. We spoke with several couples who had regulary visited the Carribbean and the overwhelming majority said Galley Bay was the best place they'd been.

If you are looking to party, Galley Bay may not be for you. By no means is the place a retirement village, but a premium is placed on letting you do your own thing when and where you want. There are plenty of activities to try. We are convinced you could participate in all or none and still be completely satisfied with your stay.

The laid back atmosphere took some getting used to, but it will quickly grow on you. We stayed for 6 nights, 7 days. 10-14 days would be perfect. The process of planning our return trip is already in the works.

We travel extensively and needed a new spot after our former Anguillan hideaway hit the skids. What a joy Galley Bay was from the moment of arrival to departure. From the reservation process through checkout, the process was a breeze. We stayed in Premium Beach front unit on first floor. It was terrific. Housekeeping was outstanding, grounds were immaculate. We love to sleep w/ cool temp. and I'm happy to report the A/C was up to our standards. Weather was terrific, 80's nice breeze. The big upside to this all inclusive was that everyone was fun loving but not over the top in trying to indulge in everything just to get their money's worth. No kids under 16 except for xmas-new year is another plus. The chef and his creations are terrific. They will accommodate you if they have the ingredients; the food is terrific - Eggs Benedict for breakfast; Lobster Thermidor; and fish I've never heard of. All so very tasty. All the staff were friendly, cheeful and just down right nice; yes, even the grounds people! Can't wait to return. Sailing with Sean is a must do!!

We have just returned from our first visit to Galley Bay and hopefully it won't be the last! From the moment we arrived and received the welcome Rum Punch things just got better. We stayed in a Premium Suite Ocean View Room and the view was just the best. Watching the cruise ships passing in the early morning was an experience. I will agree with another reviewer - the sea was certainly not as tranquil as I had hoped. My husband managed to swim everyday but not being a strong swimmer myself, I only managed a few dips which was disappointing. The swiming pool however was lovely and certainly not crowded during our stay. All the staff were great and nothing was too much trouble. The food and cocktails were all good. We specially enjoyed lunch in the Gauguin Restaurant which remained open until 5.00pm. My only critisicm would be the beach towel arrangement. People kept leaving them on the sun loungers and you were not sure if they were coming back or not - particularly round the pool. It would be better if they had a bin so people could pop their used towels in when they left. A regular hotel shuttle bus into St Johns would have been a useful service. We hired a car for 2 days which was well worth it. However, I think a car with a driver/guide would have been even better. Our stay was really enjoyable and we can certainly recommend this hotel for peace and tranquility.
