Our hole intention to going to Antigua was to relax and unwind. And this resort did it for us! When we arrived we were welcomed with smiling faces and rum punch which was nice given that we got there at 10pm. The staff was helpful in every way. We were taken on a cart around the property with a quick over view given. We were then transported to our room. Room 47. It was at the edge of the resort, but perfect no one to the side of us. The room was great, good size, huge restroom, and the view was incredible. The rooms had a dvd player, flat screen, and wireless internet. The restaurants were good and had a good selection. All the staff was friendly from the waitstaff to the bartenders. They had snorkeling, sailing and catamarans available for you to use. They had a deck lined up with rocking chairs facing the ocean, (that is where I spent alot of time). It was nice to get up and walk out the back door to the beach. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting to go an veg out and relax!

We had just returned from a family holiday and wanted somewhere to go where my husband and i could relax and chill as we both live very hectic lives, we found this at Galley bay. On arrival we were greeted with cold flannels and rum punch very welcoming, after a brief tour we were taken to our accommodation. We thought long and hard about which accommodation to go for and opted for the Gaugin cottages with the private plunge pool, i am so glad we did, it was great to have a dip in the pool late in the evening or first thing in the morning. The beach is absolutely breathtaking, gorgeous white sands crystal clear water and never busy, as was the pool it was quiet and we could always get a sunlounger although we spent most of our time in our own little pool. The food is excellent, we ate in the seagrape and the Gaugin restaurants and never once had a bad meal. The staff ,well what can i say, they were always accommodating and attentive from the room maid to the management, a big thank you to Mike the restaurant manager, Iba, Nola, and the management team for making our holiday so special. Would i return to Galley bay, yes.

Galley Bay is a beautiful hotel and the setting is just devine. When we arrived the Staff were friendly and attentive and even mentioned that I had a BIG Birthday coming up (I think they were more excited than me). After the rum punch welcome which was delicious and the cold towels to refresh us, we were given a brief tour of the resort prior to arriving at our room.

When we were shown the beach I was overwhelmed (I nearly cried with joy, the brochure doesn't do this place justice) with the beauty and tranquility of the place, its stunning!

We were allocated a premium Beach front, ground floor room No.31 - Wow what a fabulous bathroom, the walk in his n her wet room was amazing. The room itself was comfortable and bright and the views onto the beach just happened to be the icing on the cake.

All the staff are very friendly and if you joke and give them a bit of banter they will always have a laugh with you. The restaurant and bar staff remembered our drink preferences by the 3rd day - that's pretty good.

The food in all the restaurants is of good quality, we went to Seagrape for most of our evening meals, Ismays for lunch was brilliant and the Gaugin for a couple of romantic meals.

On my Birthday the Management gave me a bottle of Champagne to enjoy with our meal which was very thoughtful and kind of them.

James, the young Manager was charming and helpful and even invited us to give him our ideas and thoughts for any improvements/enhancements which we may think could prove beneficial.

We did think that maybe some improvement could be made to the mini-bar in the rooms but other than that, the place is perfect.

Both my husband and myself are very busy in our work life and at Galley Bay we just relaxed so much, I don't think we have ever felt so rested after two weeks, we only left the resort once and that was to go to the Airport two weeks after arriving.

Yes, the resort is quiet and there are no children there (which is bliss as I work in a School) but the evenings are quite jolly with bands playing music, it was lovely to sit in the rocking chairs on the deck and listen, or chat to fellow holidaymakers or just watch couples dancing and enjoy the ambiance.

We felt safe and secure at all times - If you wish to chill out completely, this is the place to go. So many people we spoke to are returning quests they can't all be wrong. I know that we will return, hopefully next year if we are fortunate enough.

We returned to Galley Bay (something we very rarely do with holidays) after a tremendous stay there in 2007.Initially we were a bit worried that it might not be as good second time round. We were delighted to find that this was not the case. The welcome, complete with cooling facecloth & rum punch, was just the start. The staff & management alike greeted us as old friends & provided a nice bottle of chilled champers (alright cava !) in our room as a welcome.Food was of a good quality, service in all restuarants & bars was indeed first class.Another plus for us was the absence of children on site. ( We are not "kid haters" but would rather not share our holiday with children) All inclusive was exactly what it says & we found that the mini bar (initially stocked with 2 of each,cokes/sprite/beer/bottled water) was re-filled each day & the young man doing this task was quite happy to change this stock to our requirments. Will we return? Quite likely. If, like us,you want a lazy relaxing holiday in pleasant pretty surroundings this is the ideal holiday for you, although it may not suit younger more active people.

Just returned from 6 nights at Galley Bay Resort - we read many reviews on Tripadvisor about Galley Bay and have to say that we can only agree with all the good reports.

The place is totally fantastic / the Staff can't do enough for you and the food adds inches to the waist line !!!!

THE ROOM - We stayed in one of the Premium Suites - the rooms are large with all mod cons inc TV / DVD / ipod station / sink and fridge ( stocked with beer and soft drinks ) tea and coffee facilities etc - the bed is huge and comfortable - there are two sofas and the bathroom has twin sinks and showers and a large bath - fully air conditioned.

Our room was at ground level and we had direct access onto the beach - there are showers outside so that you can wash the sand off the feet before entering the room - a nice touch and there are two sets of sun loungers per room ( one for the beach and one for the patio )

Couldn't fault the room in anyway.

THE RESORT - as it was low season the resort was only a 3rd full some there was plenty of room - but to be honest even if it was full i doubt there would be any overcrowding - the beach runs the full length of the bay and is one of the best I have ever seen.

We had no problems swimming in the sea even when it was slighty rough - just added to the fun. There are also non motorised watersport facilities on site ( little or no problem with jet ski's as these are discouraged by the resort ).

THE FOOD - there are 3 places to eat the main one is the Seagrape - open for breakfast / lunch and dinner - Ismys is open for Lunch and was closed for 2 days as its low season - The Giuguin is for dinner ( again closed for 2 days ) but is very romantic as you have you own table set under a Cabana making it all very private.

Overall the food served at anyone of the above would due justice for any top class restaurant in London - let alone an "all-inclusive" resort.

Mike who runs the Seagrape is a total gentlemen and makes a piont of speaking with everyone - his team are very good at their jobs and all very friendly.

In summary - a stay at the Galley Bay is an absolute must - everyone we spoke to said that they couldn't fault it anyway - our 6 days were total relaxation from start to finish and we can't wait to go back.

Many thanks to everyone at the resort from Joan on Reception / Bobby on Golf Buggie / Nola behind the Bar to Mike and his excellant Serving Staff.

Look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Where to start....
Well we have been to Antigua before on honeymoon 3 years ago and I didn't think it could be improved upon but I was so wrong and that is purely down to Galley Bay.
We stayed in one of the Gaugin Cottages as we liked the idea of the private plunge pools and I am so glad we did. They were cosy little cottages with all the basic ammenities you would need as well as a well stocked fridge and tea and coffee. Although the bathroom and changing area is in another room it is connected to the main room via a sheltered walkway which can be lit at night so this really wasn't a problem, in fact it was nice not to clutter up the main room with luggage. There were 2 sun loungers provided by the private plunge pool and the pool itself was big enough for at least 4 people to chill out in. As we stayed with another couple it was very nice to be able to chill in the pool with some cocktails from the bar, which was only a short walk away.
The resort on the whole is very quite and peaceful, with a very relaxed atmosphere. The main restaurant the Seagrape is fantastic and we found catered to all our tastes (and one of our party is very fussy). The food was of an excellent standard, and I have eaten at some of Londons top restaurants and would say the quality easily compared. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and were very accomodating if we wanted our food a particular way. We ate in the Gaugin one evening, the atmosphere and setting were lovely but we all felt the food in the seagrape was better.
There are a few good areas for snorkelling just off the beach and it is just a short walk to the next resort where alot of the pickups for tours go from. The main pool is beautiful and was never too busy to get a sun lounger in fact a couple of afternoons we had the pool to ourselves (mainly due to the season).
I think this hotel is a must for couples but I agree that if you are looking for somewhere that has alot going on or a loud nightlife this is not the place for you.

We stayed at the Galley Bay for 11 Nights. One of the most idyllic places we have been to and we have been to many. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by two friendly receptionists, cold flannels and a rum punch. Is there a nicer way to be greeted after a long journey from England? Things could get better and they did.

Our room was lovely, fantastic views out to the ocean (just like the website), we stepped from our terrace straight onto the white sand and our sunbeds.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was great in all the restaurants. We loved Ismays for lunch and the Sea Grape for dinner. Just writing this on a cold wet August afternoon makes me want to be back there.

We had a fantastic time and will return in the near future.
