My wife and I just spent our 20th. Anniversary at the Sandals Grande Antigua.Nico and Donovan from Sandals enhanced the service levels to meet our expectations and then some..The resort is fabulous along with a very hospitable service staff that made our stay very pleasurable. The food was good at all of their restaurants, along with beautiful grounds, beach and mulitiple pools to enjoy. The snorkling was great and we saw quite a few fish.If you are looking for a nice resort to enjoy your vacation this is the one.My wife and I will be comming back.

Cordially,
Randall & Bonnie Rolfe

The island of Antigua is small and beautiful. The people were very nice and the weather was the best I have experienced in the carribean. The Sandals resort was very clean and well kept. There were basically no insects which was awesome. The people at the resort were very friendly and respectful. This is huge because the carribean is the carribean no matter where you go it is the resort and the people at the resort that really make it a good or bad experience. Our Experience at the Sandals Grand Antigua was very warm and in a weeks time I fell in love with the people and the Island.

Unless you book one of their top rooms it is not as great an experience as the ads/picutures lead you to beleive...

I have never been made to feel as though I had not spent enough money as I did at Sandals. They have a system where they constently ask you your room number before helping you. Wonder if that is why I never had a full glass of wine, water or "luxury included" anything.

The water in the shower came out brown, there was no minibar in our room (we weren't in a "high enough room number", no room service included, and actually even though it was our honeymoon and other rooms got a complementary breakfast in bed the next morning we didn't make the cut for that either.

But you can't take the beautiful out of Antiqua! The grounds were beautiful, the pool amazing and the beach to die for. The scuba diving was incredible!

The food was ok, the sushi bar is incredible and barfoot by the sea is my favorite place for dinner.

Spa was great!

I will keep this short-
My husband and i went for our honeymoon. We were there for 2 wks. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and also the US. This has been the worst hotel, with the worst service either of us has ever experienced. First- DO NOT Do any activities on the beach- they are literally unsafe.

Secondly, if you have the butler service, you have just been taken advantage of. The butlers don't do anything. You will still wait, won't be able to get reservations- so face it- highway robbery.

The Rooms- don't bother looking online, they use so much editing. You are paying so much for a lil dirty [--]. Its fitlthy. If you want a room service to actually clean your room - goodluck it will take a couple days.

The Service- I don't know where to go here- with the eye rolling when you order your food- IE- the waitress comes up to your table after you sit down and you say, can I have a glass of wine- waitress rolls her eyes.. and doesn't bring you anything. Need your room cleaned- forget about it! Need to eat around 3:00 PM bc you have been on the beach all day and just want a snack- NOTHING IS OPEN! need an extra towel for the pool or beach- NOPE! want to have a special meal without spending $200 for cheap food, on a mosquito filled tent- FORGET ABOUT IT!

Needless to say my husband and I tried to make the best out of the our honeymoon. We love each other and love traveling. We decided to spend more to go to this sandals- we have been to Beaches in Jamaica (AWESOME!) Excellence in Punta Cana DR (LOVED IT!) and Cancun Palace Resorts (AMAZING) All cheaper then Sandals- and those places- were hands down the best food, service, and Spa!

Antigua is a gorgeous island, the people are amazing- simply the best, the beaches- breathtaking. The island is very safe and hands down- amazing. The resort- Sandals- Horrific.

Our last day (we complained a few times during our stay, but tried to make the most out of this dump) our last day, we complied for overcharges on our bill- and the lady said they would give us 3 free days at another sandals! HA!

What a joke- we will never go back to this roach filled, lying, cheating, poor service, cheap nasty food, with not to code living conditions place called sandals!

Needless- to say, we will be taking a re-do honeymoon elsewhere- Sandals ruined our honeymoon.

This was our 4th stay at a Sandals resort but our first to Antigua. The resort is awesome! I loved the restaurants, the staff was wonderful and the place was clean. We had a nice room (we paid for the least expensive and prayed for an upgrade and got one). The room was in the Flamboyant Building, not in the large building where all the suites were but we still liked it very much. We had a pool in front and we were located close to the Spa and the gym. Only a few steps to the beach and main attractions. The resort is broken down into two sides basically. Here are a few suggestions:

Go to Mario's for breakfast. The Bayside is open and birds are constantly eating at the food. It is gross. Mario's was a farther walk for us but we needed to burn the calories.

The beach is not private and there are TONS of vendors that are always bugging you. Just say no t hank you and they will pretty much leave you alone. I got down right rude the one day and they left me alone. They can be annoying but it is their bread and butter to making a living. Sad but true.

Go on the caterman called "Sandals Exclusive". What an amazing day!!! The Atlantic is pretty rough but they give you motion sickness meds before the trip. It was by far the most fun we had all week.

Make your reservations as soon as you get there for dinner! Eleanors is good but hard to get in to. Kimono's is a blast but book that towards the end of the week and hope you go with fun people. We had boring folks with us but we still had fun. Our chef's name was "Sugar". He rocked! The best place by far is the Sushi bar. OMG!!! So good!!!!!
Mario's is good, the Barefoot is excellent. The Ok Corral was just ok. Bayside we never went to since it was open and the birds just grossed me out. It is also buffet and I personally don't do buffets. I am a snob I guess.

Lose at least 5 to 10 lbs before you go. You will gain it all back. The food and drinks are endless and you will take advantage of it. Ya want to know why? Cause you CAN!!!

That is it. Go. Enjoy. I am jealous. I still like Sandals Negril the best but Antigua is amazing and so beautiful. Wow. Just gorgeous.
