Where do I start. Well first of all I find this very hard to write as I absoltely loved every minute being away with my other half and the best thing that came out of this holiday was that the disappointing parts that Sandals brought us on the holiday really made us stronger. I have the best memories of us just being together away but not at all of Sandalls Antigua. Whatever you do stay away from this resort and if you have book get on the phone now and let them know you care concerned and make sure you are booked in the Meditterean Village as that will save your holiday. We can laugh about it now but it was sad that we had to face these things. When we arrived we were put in a small bungalow room in the old part, It was old, noisy from the 24hr pool music, the bed was as hard as rock that we woke up with back pains, the safe was broken and room blinds didn't work so the room was dark and stuffy. After day 4 I was so unhappy my partner complained for these reasons:

- the room (everything I have mentioned)
- No towels and you have to set your alarm for 6:30 to get a lounge on the beach
- The horrible rude service from the staff
- Nobdy went through how you have to book 3 days in advance to get a decent restaurant
(There may be 9 restaurants but none of them serve healthy normal food! The fish is over cooked .... with burger and chips for lunch or buffet which gave us stomach aches everytime we tried it)
- There was no bottled water on the sight - we complained as we only drink bottled water as we are not used to the water in Antigua... they eventually filled our fridge which we then had to take to dinner.
- The wine served at dinner was really cheap (equiv to a £3 bottle in the UK)
- I got food poisoning at the Bayside buffet and the next day my partner called up for room service so I could eat something but they refused as it was not in our package. He persisted and said they must help because I am unwell. An hour later they brought some fruit and juice that we asked for.

Once we were upgraded it got better because we could sleep! Please take into the fact that we are in are late 20's. All we wanted was a hassle free holiday with polite service, the people are very resentful who work at this resort and frankly dont care at all. New Year's was a absolute nightmare... we had to wait 1hr for a table to eat. We were told that by the time we landed all the restaurants were booked due to the booking restaurants 3 days in advance I found the whole booking restaurants all the time very stressful! I just wanted to relax and not worry.

By the second week we had got used to the rude service and started to make the best of the situation. Luckily I was extremly happy we were on holiday and we rented a car for the day which we both say was the best day because we got out and forgot all about the resort.

Please go and find a better holiday to go to. This resort was just full of noisy people who just wanted to take advantage of the free cheap booze and a crowded beach with no personal space you feel like sardines. We hardly drank because the alcohol cocktails were so horrible. We would never go to a Sandals now.... not even tempted to take the risk. It's a dissapointing commercial paradise.

My fiancee' and I booked our trip to Antigua in July of 2007. With airfaire and 6 nights accomodations our bill was around $8,000.00. The vacation we ended up with I wouldnt give you $2,000.00 for. We we originally scheduled to fly from Texas to Antigua on Friday morning. For no appearant reason American Airlines cancelled our 9:00 a.m. Friday flight at 10:00 p.m. Thursday night. After additional flight delays we finally arrived in Antigua Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. We were dropped off by our so called taxi driver at the concierge desk where no one was there to check us in. Finally we found some help cleaning up one of the ballrooms and they called someome to help us. It is then we discovered that our room had been given away. After several calls to someone the clerk finally said he would put us in a room for the night then more than likely we would be moved the next day. The room we were put in was definately not what we expected or paid for. A 5 star room it wasnt! The airconditioning wasnt working properly and the door knob was very loose. I dont know of any nice hotel in this day and age that still has a key to unlock the door and not a card. At this point we were exhausted and took the room in hopes we would be moved the next day. After many arguements and being passed from person to person we were finally told they were booked and there were no other rooms available. Finally at 3:00 pm on Sunday we finally gave up and quit fighting. We were going to try to make the best of our situaiton since we had already lost 1 1/2 days of our vacation. During the remainder of our stay we continued having trouble with our airconditioning and door knob. Also during this time, one of the the spindles broke off the poster bead and the under framing of the bed broke. I've personally had better rooms at a $79.00 a night La Quinta. Our $800 a night room overlooked the pool area which was littered with trash and towels. We assumed it would be cleaned up in the mornings but it wasnt.

The majority of the staff was very indifferent and the rest were disagreeable and surley. The acted as if they were going out of there way to make a drink or help in any way.

The food was mediocre at best and that's if you actually got into a restaurant to eat. It all seemed very disorganized. The brochere we received upon check in was outdated and had the wrong schedule for when the restaraunts were opened or closed. There was a reservation number to call for reservations but we were never able to get through.

When we received our bill the morning before check out there were $250 worth of long distance calls that were charged to our room which we didnt make. We went to the concierge's office that evening to straighten it out and were told that it would have to be taken care of by a manager the next morning. We were also told to have our luggage in front of our door by 5:00 a.m. for someone to pick up to take to the front desk. Upon leaving our room at 5:20 our luggage was still outside the door.

I would not recommend this resort if you are expecting a 5 star hotel. You will be very dissapointed.

You will not be disappointed if you have chosen this sandals location for a honeymoon or just a romantic getaway. From the moment you arrive to the minute you leave you are treated like royalty. We decided to go all out for our Honeymoon and get the butler service at the hotel - WOW! There is nothing they won't do for you. But we did learn along the way though what we should expect from them it isn't exactly clear . All the food was great.. not one complaint except that my clothes that I brought didn't fit by the end of the week. The service was outstanding. Be prepared to eat, drink and spend a wonderful time in the tropics!

My husband and I just came back for the most amazing vacation at Sandals Antigua. We both loved it and actually booked our trip for this christmas. We stayed in the new section of the hotel and it is TOP CLASS! The rooms are much nicer than I ever imagined an all inclusive would have! Flat scree tv, ocean view and also a view of the pool which is enormous! Besides the physical structure of the hotel being out of this world, the service was spectacular. I do not believe we waited more than 2 minutes for a staff member to serve a drink and if it took longer, we would at least get a soon come! They were all very pleasant.

I must admit, I was not overly impressed with the food. Not 5 but I would give them 4 stars. Out of all the AI we have been to, their food was far superior.

We were both very skeptical because of all the reviews but we are glad we went with our instinct as well as what we heard from a few of our friends.

Cannot wait until christmas!

Jaime

My wife and I had planned the honeymoon of a lifetime only to still be fighting with such incompitent people. from the first second we arrived there was nothing done right and many safety concerns. Too date we have written a seven page letter and received only a "sorry" and we hope your next stay will be better, but we will NEVER EVER travel with Sandals again. I will gladly provide a copy of this letter to anyone interested in seeing.
Examples of this trip were, wrong rooms, upgrade charges for nothing and then having to fight until last week for credit card refunds that they kept omitting. the food is great if you enjoy little to no selection. the scuba shop was so poorly ran that they actually lost two divers the week before ( google it for fun) luckily they found them several hours later.
The rooms were cleaned about every second day and concierge service was non-existen.
What i have to say is that the local staff was rude and lazy, the manager took 3 days to return our calls. The gym was non-existent.
Only good thing was the colours and ground appearance and the spa was actually quite nice.

if we can say anything it is DO NOT GIVE SANDALS ONE CENT OF YOUR HARD ENARNED MONEY.
