After seeing some of the reports we feared the worst. What a surprise when we arrived. The reception was spotless with helpful staff and the overall impression was excellent. As we looked around the site we found that the rest of the facilities were also of a very high standard. We had excellent food with a very wide choice of dishes and the beach was superb. Chairs and loungers were in very good condition and looked like new. It would seem that all rented rooms had been re-decorated but not all had new plumbing. A few guests who were unhappy with their rooms were quickly moved to alternatives. Our superior room was completely satisfactory. The water was clear and drinkable. The entertainment was good but what a pity the Ciboney Lounge was not in use. However having this in the open was no problem. We particularly enjoyed the Wadadli Catamaran trip round the Island and the Virgin Dundee Safari trip.

or lower your expectations and then lower them again. It is obvious that the owners are just after revenue with no intent to maintain the property or even train their staff.

The best thing is it is only 10 minutes from town, so you can leave and go to St John's.

You'd be better off to spend a little more and receive a proper vacation...after all that's what we all want.

Having read previous reviews of this hotel our party of twelve adults and children were expecting the worst.Once we got past reception, which is manned and womanned by people chosen specifically for their unhelpfulness (eg "you have no towels? nor have I")we had a terrific time. the rest of the staff were welcoming charming and eager to please -particularly the restaurant manager, Karl, who spent his morning off searching St.John`s shops for a (probably mythical) "DOUBLE 12" domino piece covetted by our expert on pub games .The location was superb. We were all-inclusive and never had a bad meal-even the children and faddy teenagers did not complain-well not about the hotel anyway.We considered the package very good value -particularly the free cocktails. The hotel has just had a makeover - maybe more of attitude and management than anything else -and it certainly worked for us.(Though why they sewed up the curtains in my friend`s room overlooking the pool I do not know -whether they were afraid of him seeing out or others seeing in?)

I have read the latest reviews and must say that the hotel is still beautiful at its core. I did not have any problems with my water at all this year. The pressure, color and heat control were fine. I think this is a room by room problem which can be resolved by changing rooms. If you are in timeshare then it is more difficult to do this.
The hotel is no longer the 5 star resort it was long ago, nor is it being run that way. I think many people still expect that though and the new staff does try to accomadate as many requests as possible.
The hotel had just reopened 2 days prior to our arrival and they were still working to clean up during our stay.
Bottom line, it's grounds are still lovely, nice pool, gorgeous beach. The food is decent, not great or good. We eat breakfast there and it is just as good as anything on the beach. The rooms are larger than most while they are not luxurious, they are clean. There are watersports available on the beach and the hotel has 2 bars.
I love this hotel but it is not a five star hotel.
