We had a wonderful time at the Rex. The 1BR suite had a little kitchenette which we didn't really use since it was AI but the fridge came in handy for keeping xtra drinks in the room. There was a living area with comfy couch chair and dining room table and tv and a balcony. The bedroom had another tv, large bed with fresh linens everyday and another balcony. There were 2 bathrooms in the unit. Lots of little tiny birds would come visit when we put treats out. They were really friendly. The room was a short trip to the pool and perfect beach.
The service at the bar was sometimes kinda slow but I think that was on purpose because of the relaxed pace. The local beer Wadadli was served on tap. Its a pale lager and pretty good. The frozen drinks were delicious and they'd make you a pitcher if you brought one down from the room to take to the beach. The white wine was really good. We always stopped at the lobby bar on our way to dinner and had a few glasses.
I thought the food was fine. The breakfast buffet was typical. Eggs done 5 or 6 ways. Several meats, friut, cereal, juice, coffee, milk, breads and stuff. Lunch was simple, just burgers, chicken, sausages, hot dogs and fries. The dinner buffets were excellent! Everybody dresses for dinner, Sorry guys, no shorts or jeans.
The beach was perfect. clean and calm. Plenty of tables, umbrellas and chairs for everyone. Topless is ok if you go down to the end. There is pretty good snorkeling at the end of the beach by the cliff wall. You can follow it about 3 football fields or so. We saw turtle, lobster, urchin, lots of fish. Go before 9:00 a.m. or the sand gets churned up from the boats and jet skis.
The maids are honest. I left jewelry and stuff out all the time with no problems. The staff is the friendliest I've ever encountered on my travels. They have cats and dogs at the resort that are real friendly. That was really nice. I always saved a little lunch for them.
The only bad thing about the resort are the beach vendors. They jump you pretty hard when you first get there. We were approached by dope man, coconut rum man, hair braid lady 1 and 2, boat trip man, horseback ride man, jet-ski man and I get you anything, take you anywhere man within 20 minutes of hitting the beach.
We did go horseback riding. That was pretty good for a guided trail. You can run them on the beach and through the field. You ride up to this old fort on the hill with a great view and cold drinks.
All in all we really loved the resort.
