We had a fabulous fortnight at the Halcyon Cove. The staff were fantastic, really friendly. A special mention to Heather and Natasha really great bar staff, ask Heather to make you her Antiguan Rainforest cocktail. All the other cocktails were equally as good. Fenton and Travis the entertainment team were fantastic with both the kids. It was quite quiet while we where there because XL had just gone bust, but we liked that. We were upgraded to a pool view room, which was spacious and really clean. The food was great, always something to eat, even for my 4 yr old. The lunchtime BBQ was good, they would cook you fresh fish. The A la Carte on the Warri Pier was good, although the service a little slow, but then you are in the Caribbean, why rush! The beach is amazing, picture postcard, although the kids preferred the pool. Try the catamaran circumnavigation cruise, it is well worth the money. We also hired a car from the hotel car rental which was really good value, a brilliant way to see the island, but watch out for the pot holes. Devils Bridge is well worth a visit.
All in all a fantastic holiday, we would definately go back.

Lovely location on one of the best beaches in Antigua. Can be a little quiet in the surrounding areas but there is just enough going on along this strech of beach to keep you occupied. The are 4 or 5 nice restraunts within easy walking distance but not a lot of night life. Very nice rooms, good pool and everyone is very friendly.

We got back from Antigua this morning and Im actually trying to go back in December! We loved Halcyon and the staff, specially Jacqueline, Cordell, Fenton, Roxanne, Erroll and last but not least Natasha made our stay very, very enjoyable and special! Our room was spotless every single day and we really cant find one single thing to complain about. Ive never met such beautiful, warm people. Every aspect of the holiday was just 100%, food was great, service was excellent and the whole vibe in the hotel was just great. Helen and Devon, mangers, were extremely attentive and made sure that we were enjoying our stay and always around if we did need anything and the Chef, Orlan presented delicious food every single day and night, great variety; which confuses me as to why comments were made that the food was hit and miss! We were on first name terms with ALL staff from concierge to housekeeping and never have met such friendly people. Please look out for Jaqueline(Warri Pier Restaurant), such a lovely person, she just made her job look so effortless even though she was running around to everyone`s needs, greeting guests with a warm smile always, making sure guests were ok and enjoying their dinner etc.
I could go on and on...I can only sum up our holiday with one word..EXTRAORDINARY!!

I just wish that everyone has the same positive experience as we did.

My boyfriend and I went on our first holiday together to Halcyon Cove Resort, Dickinsions Bay, Antigua in October 2007. We went with Virgin, who were brilliant, I would definately travel with them again if we were going on a long flight.

The hotel room was huge, with massive panoramic windows of a beautiful beach view. The bedroonm, bathroom and living area were all great and very clean, and literally a few feet from the beach and pool areas.

Dickinson Bay is a beautiful white beach with a clear blue sea. Walk to the end and go snorkelling on the glass bottomed boat... there are loads of really colourful fish and its amazing. People will introduce themselves to you and try to sell you things but after a simple no they just go away, they are not pushy at all.

We were not all inclusive, but paid to have our breakfast at the hotel everyday because it was really good. It is a buffet style brekfast, with a chef there to cook your eggs and ommelettes and way you like.

We hired a car and really explored the isalnd. The people are very friendly, even in the run down areas hey helped us with directions.

For a truly romantic experience, go to The Cove restaurant, it is beautiful, in a beautiful location by the sea surrounded by flaming lanterns and the food is superb with excellent service.

There is loads to do, my boyfriend went on a few diving trips, we did zip wires through the jungle and an aerial assult course (this is suitable for all, there was a grandma participating behind me!! and there were a few fearless children in the group.) We did a jeep safari which was brilliant and included canoeing through the mangroves looking for starfish, this trip is also quite educational. We also went on a catamran boat trip with a BBQ lunch which was a great day out.

Overall I would recommend this holiday for any couple or familly, it is definately one to remember.
