My wife, daughter and my self have just returned from the Halcyon Cove Resort-Antigua and all I can say that, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday, some where you can kick your shoes, switch off and chill out on a quite beach, then this certainly is not the place for you.
It’s a great shame as this resort has so much potential, it could be really lovely.
Unfortunately as some staff felt it was their god given right to play the music in the bar, by the beach, as loud as they liked, despite numerous request to turn it down from myelf and other guests, it would only last for may be 1hour tops. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Elvis or Abba but there is a time and place and when you are trying to relax on a Antiguan beach, it can become anything but relaxing, especially when accompanied by certain staff who think it’s there for their own personal use as a Karioke machine.
Following a cocktail evening to meet the management and General manager, I took the opportunity to have a word with the General manager, (as she suggested during her speech) mid way throught our conversation, we were joined by another guest with the same complaint and to be fair, the following day way fine, you could still hear the music around the bar but with out offending anyone on the beach. Unfortunately it only lasted the one-day, the following day it was back to it’s usual level, showing a complete disregard for the guests and for management. For me personally this holiday was a huge mistake and not one that I will be repeating.

we stayed at the halcyon cove and found it a very relaxing enjoyable holiday. Ther were 4 of us me my husband and 2 children age 2 and 4.The staff were very friendly and always made a fuss of the kids the beach was stunning and we used to go out sun bathig wiyh the kids straight after breckfast at about 8.00am and it was georgoues. Brilliant weather only thing i would say is that food is not to everyones like me and my husband were fine but the kids struggled abit. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a stunning location then this is for you

I booked this hotel has a last minute holiday. Staying at this resort for two weeks from 9th June 2008. I was very worry after reading all the review about this hotel. But I must say my room was excellent ,you could see that it had been newly decorated. The location of the hotel was great only 10 minutes to St. Johns the capital which we done on number of occasions. The beach was lovely. We went on 3 excursions which were excellent especially the trip to Barbuda where we had lobster salad for lunch which was out of this world. This is a must trip.

We when room only, so cannot comment on the food, other guest told us it was hit and miss on some days. We bought our food along the beach not far from Sandals hotel. The food was excellent you had a good choice every day from jerk chicken, fish and pork etc., which was served with rice and peas, macaroni, salad, coleslaw which cost no more that £4.

The local people are very friendly met a local woman name Lorraine at the market in St. Johns who took us to Shirley Heights on Sunday for free.She wouldn't take no money for her trouble. We met great couples which we are still in contact with today and planning to all go on holiday together next year.

The only negative point I would say about this hotel is that it could do with more entertainment in the evening time.

Arrived home a week today - wish I was still there.
Debbie the Assistant Hotel Manager could not have been more helpful and always smiling and laughing. A super place to have that well earned break from the constant pressures of the UK. we intended to do the tourist bit but when we got there the hotel and staff were so nice we didn't need to venture away from the hotel and all it's amenities. we went scuba diving and saw numerous fish, stingrays, conch with crab and with conch and the highlight was the snorkling my husband and I did on Dickensons Bay Beach - right on the doorstep of the hotel- where we saw a baby Hawkesbill Turtle. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples alike.
