“Fantastic Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We visited the Halcyon Cove in June 2011. It was an absolutely fabulous holiday, not only for the idyllic island of Antigua, but also the fabulous people we met out there - the guests and staff alike.
The staff just could not do enough for you. Fenton, Dalston and Errol were fab entertainment. Beware Errol's cocktails - wicked. Lying on the beach there are a lot of beach vendors, but after the initial greeting, if you did not want to buy you were never mythered. The aloe vera man was especially funny with his daily greeting of "you say aloe I say vera, while you is burnin, I is earnin". A very funny guy.
For a look round the Island, taxi man GG is fab, nothing too much trouble, he even drove us to his mate's house to cut us some fresh aloe vera stems so we could rub the sap onto my girlfriends legs, which were burnt on the island circumnavigation cruise (well worth doing).
We generally never go to the same place twice as we like to go somewhere different every year, but we are going back to the Halcyon on 5th Jan 2013 for my 50th on the 8th and I can't wait. The food is fabulous and varied and I would not want to spend my special birthday anywhere else.
Hope all the staff are still there and also the karaoke guy, who is a dead ringer for Nigel Benn!!
Roll on January.
Mike & Sue

Antigua is purely paradise! The Halcyon Cove Hotel which is where we stayed for two glorious weeks. The hotel is situated right on the beach. We had a ground level room, & you practically step off the patio straight on to the white sandy beach, where you can lie & toast to your'e hearts content. The most energetic thing you do is to turn over on the sunbed to tan the other side! There is a beach bar where you can get a drink to cool off, before taking a dip in the gorgeous turquoise waters. We went fully inclusive which is optional, as with a lot of Caribbean hotels their accomodation is compulsory fully inclusive. The meals were very nice, especially the A la carte meus at the Awark resteraunt on the little pier walkway that leads into the sea from the beach.
They also lay on nightly entertainment. The rooms were also really nice. In fact when we arrived after an exceptionally long flight, when we booked in at reception, because I have walking difficulties, they immediately pgraded us to a beautiful ground floor room. I can't speak highly enough about the staff. Absolutely everyone from the cleaners to the management staff went out of their way to make our stay one of the most enjoyable I've ever had! I would recommend this holiday experience to one and all.Even the prices were reasonable for the whole trip.

Room Tip: If like me you had a problem (Mine was walking difficulties) you'll find the reception staff ver...

We first went to halcyon cove in June 2003. We read all the negative reviews as well as the positive ones and decided to give it a chance.oh boy are we pleased we did. Everything is beautiful if slightly dated. Rooms are spacious and clean. Decor plain but still pleasing to the eye. We only go room only as Antigua has many fantastic places to eat at. The staff will do anything to make your stay perfect. We always request the same room which is only 15 paces from the magnificent beach. There is a terrific taxi service available within the hotel grounds. Gigi the owneris is so accommodating. If you have a problem with anything the hotel staff will do their utmost to help. Grounds are kept tidy and pool area although small is comfortable and clean. It.s well worth a visit. Beds are so comfortable. There is a small market selling typical carribean items which have great characters working there.

Room Tip: If you are not happy with your room ask and they usually upgrade you free.

Had a great time, the staff at the hotel were soo nice. Couldn't have asked for more! Didn't have hot water one of the morning but when you're in Antigua you can't really moan about anything.

Just returned from a week in the wonderful antigua. This is our 2nd time there and boy were we lucky to find the Halcyon cove. What a perfect location, beach, hotel and most importantly its staff. I cant say enough about all the staff from the top down including the manager Richard.Everyone is very friendly and all take pride in their job. In particular would like to give special mention to Errol, Fenton, Heleen, Roxanne, and Julietta. They made our stay all the more sweet. The hotel is blessed with a great location on lovely white sandy beach. No problems with getting sun loungers. Lovely beach restaurant called Warri pier for evening dinner (and in our view is so underutilised would be great for breakfast and lunch as well). The food was great and quiet varied. They did a la carte 5 nights out of the 7 with buffet the other 2 nights. Accommodation was spacious and clean. They also have an old restaurant above the resort which is out of use but would definitely be an asset if it was revamped!!
I could not praise this hotel and Antigua enough.
