I am an avid traveler and have stayed at many places, both good and bad. With high or low expectations, we have always known what we were getting into by staying at any of the hotels/resorts that we have been to. We have recently returned from our honeymoon at Jumby Bay Resort. I must say, the sunsets are spectacular. Most of the hotel staff is just as friendly and eager to try to be helpful. However, as a bride on my first-class honeymoon, I have never experienced any stay as atrocious as this place was. The all-inclusive price that we paid for this time was a waste of our hard-earned money and feel that I have been taken for a sucker. For a Rosewood Resort, this is by far unimaginable, but true. (I can say this because I have stayed at several of their other properties and this one is the WORST). This particular resort definitely misleads the public. Our A/C quit working on the first night after arrival and the "help desk" did not seem eager or concerned that we have no A/C. They did not try to relocate us into a room with working A/C. The food, for a 4 or 5 (and I say that with a very loose tongue), was not edible. The fish the kitchen cooked should have been perfect (being surrounded by water and being a natural food source), I could not even swallow the fish without the use of a glass of water. The staff and management were at odds with each other and this was a reflection in which the guests were able to see first hand. The “spa”, again a term used oh so lightly, was not a spa per se. I wanted a pedicure and was willing to pay the high price because I was after all, on my honeymoon at a world-class resort. There is no place to give a manicure or pedicure except in your room. This would not work because we had no A/C. They gave us the option to use the small 6'x3' massage room (little lighting in here). The “spa” pedicurist came in, and gave me the worst pedicure I have ever seen. (I even ended up with an infection because of the non sterilization of the tools, which I was unaware of at the time). Not only did she NOT give me a "spa pedicure", but the company sent over a new mother who was lactating the whole time. I was overcharged and the hostess desk stated that was my fault when I went to inquire about the charges. This resort gives a free snorkeling trip 2-3 times a week, which is nice. However, at this particular time of our stay, when they took us to a specific site, it was jellyfish migration season. The driver of our boat said, "Watch out for the jellyfish". Now, why would a 4-5 star resort take their guests to a site that is known during this specific season, that it is jellyfish season? All the guest that were aboard the boat that day went into the water and less than 15 minutes later, we were all on shore wanting to go back to the resort. The driver of the boat would not oblige right away. The only true service that was impeccable was the bar staff. I only hope to inform people. Don’t even bother with this resort. I had never been so elated to leave a vacation spot as I was on my honeymoon. Needless to say, if you do read this, I implore you to look elsewhere; perhaps Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. (Yes, it is a Rosewood Resort, but you will be highly impressed and will continue to go back for years to come).
