We stayed at Galley Bay for 7 nights in the Cottages. We loved the place. Yes, you are in a cosetted world, but I can stand that for 7 days. It surely must be one of the few places that does exactly what it says in the brochures. You will not be disappointed with the location - right on the beach. You will not be disappointed with the staff - couldn't be more genuine and friendlier.
Our cottage was lovely, but just think long and hard as to whether you really want a beachfront location before booking - we probably would next time around. The plunge pool was great for cooling down.
We made use of most of the facilities - snorkeling, tennis, hobie cat, and bikes. We even pushed the bikes up the hill and rode down to Hawksbill which has a 4 beaches. If you want to get to the naturist beach just ride straight through the complex and go through the gate on the end headland. That beach is lovely and natural with goats coming down off the hillside to share your beach.
Would recommend Shirley Heights on a Sunday just for the Steel Band !
Food was lovely and we frequently switched between both restaurants. Quick tip - you can pre-order lobster if you eat at the Gaugin restaurant and specify how you want it cooking - the thermidor was superb !
You'll meet a good selection of people - although when we went there was a bias towards the more senior element. Honeymooners may want a bit more life.
I would recommend this to most people and would just advise watching the sun go down with a banana slide or rum punch by your side !

We just stayed in Galley Bay Resort for a week of January 19-26.
90% of the visitors were English and only the rest of them were Americans. The property is absolutely spotless, the natives couldn't do more to accomodate you and the whole resort is built in Gaugen's theme, just like in Tahiti. Beautiful.
But if you are used to good America and French cuisine than you are out of luck: Antiguan cuisine is heavily influenced by British and is absolutely tastless rubber, especially fish! I tried to eat different types of fish three times but it was awful! Even blueberry pancakes were like leather soles: couldn't cut it even with maple syrup and my husband told me they even looked like wood.
The only two things regarding food was good: breakfast eggs (they could do them any style you want) and Caesar salad (with or without chicken).
One time we asked for a burger to be done medium rare but they told us they make it only well done.
As for wine: it tasted like diluted cranberry juice.
We are avid red wine drinkers and appreciate good American, French and Italian red wines. We had to pay extra in order to have wine from the wine list which was decent.
English tourists seemed happy with every food and drink they had. Now I know why French say that English cannot cook. Totally agree!
Other than that the place was very nice, every day we had different band, we even saw a fashion and a magic show.

It is such a romantic place, with a very private and intimate atmosphere. The lovely decorated cottages make you feel like you are visiting friends. And an evening with the owner Natalie and her friends makes this feeling even stronger. This year we stayed in Breeze two times and are planning already our next visit. All cottages have a nice view, an the swim in the morning at this beach nearby is just fantastic.
The embassy in Hamburg recommanded her place and we just can say "Thank you for this wonderful time".

I have visited Antigua for many years now and for the last three years now my favourite choice is the galley Bay cottages, originally recommended by friends on the island I have stayed at all the cottages and each one has its own little personality, my current favourite is the Calabash, great if you have kids or friends it is split in two sections , the double has a four poster bed and an
'ensuite' shower-room that is open to the stars and lizards, in fact I love the close proximity to the nature and of course the tranquility and privacy of the place,,,Seabreeze overlooks Galley Bay beach and is quite dramatic to hear the rolling waves on the beach...Treehouse is nestled on the hillside and Spice is a duplex also suitable for families...all of the cottages have lovely
'chillin out' space on the verandahs and all of the cottages are well
equiped and have fans, fridges, cookers and all your basic essentials, I normally just bring my teabags!!!

Natalie is a charming host and I do feel like I am a friend rather than just a visitor, highly recommended for lovers of all kinds!
