We just returned from Carlisle Bay. I feel compelled to write this review because some of the opinoins I read here before our trip (especially the older ones) were negative and tempered our expectations. My advice to you as a pretty experiecced luxury traveler who appreciates high-end, Four Seasons or better qualilty... is to focus on some of the more recent comments in here, including mine. We were greeted at the airport by a Carlisle Bay rep who quickly escorted us through VIP customs & immigration. A clean, comfortable SUV was waiting for us, bags were loaded and the driver handed us 2 chilled towels and 2 ice cold bottled waters. The front desk greeted us in their incredibly beuatiful lobby with amazing Caribbean fruit drinks, took our bags directly to our suite and never even asked us for a credit card. Our room was fantastic, right on the beach, extremely clean, modern, minimalist, layed-back yet sophisticated & elegant. Housekeeping cleans the rooms 3 times daily yet will respect total privacy when you want it. Room service is incredibly efficient & quick (especially for the Caribbean). The restaurants are great. We prefered Indigo on the beach over East (the more formal Asian-fusion one) which lacks vibe & atmosphere. The live piano music in the lobby /pool bar is terrific. Free afternoon tea every day at 4pm is a real treat. The pool is gorgeous with full-time staff for ordering poolside drinks & snacks, never crowded. In fact, although the resort was at full capacity the week we were there, we felt like the place was empty. Spa is gorgeous, treatments are first-rate, gym & tennis facility rival best in Carib, movie theater and library are nice extras. The child care service was extremely professional and trustworthy. The place is perfect for young families with small children but would probably be too boring for older / teen kids. One corner of the resort is reserved for families while couples seeking quiet and privacy are intentionally segregated to the larger side of the property. There was no mosquito, sand flea or any other insect problem whatsoever. The resort grounds, the view, the beach, the staff, the food... all A+... I could go on and on... This place was a home-run, no-brainer we'll be back agian & again. One more thing.. eat an Antiguan Roti your first day -- you'll get addicted quickly.
