We just returned from Carlisle Bay. I feel compelled to write this review because some of the opinoins I read here before our trip (especially the older ones) were negative and tempered our expectations. My advice to you as a pretty experiecced luxury traveler who appreciates high-end, Four Seasons or better qualilty... is to focus on some of the more recent comments in here, including mine. We were greeted at the airport by a Carlisle Bay rep who quickly escorted us through VIP customs & immigration. A clean, comfortable SUV was waiting for us, bags were loaded and the driver handed us 2 chilled towels and 2 ice cold bottled waters. The front desk greeted us in their incredibly beuatiful lobby with amazing Caribbean fruit drinks, took our bags directly to our suite and never even asked us for a credit card. Our room was fantastic, right on the beach, extremely clean, modern, minimalist, layed-back yet sophisticated & elegant. Housekeeping cleans the rooms 3 times daily yet will respect total privacy when you want it. Room service is incredibly efficient & quick (especially for the Caribbean). The restaurants are great. We prefered Indigo on the beach over East (the more formal Asian-fusion one) which lacks vibe & atmosphere. The live piano music in the lobby /pool bar is terrific. Free afternoon tea every day at 4pm is a real treat. The pool is gorgeous with full-time staff for ordering poolside drinks & snacks, never crowded. In fact, although the resort was at full capacity the week we were there, we felt like the place was empty. Spa is gorgeous, treatments are first-rate, gym & tennis facility rival best in Carib, movie theater and library are nice extras. The child care service was extremely professional and trustworthy. The place is perfect for young families with small children but would probably be too boring for older / teen kids. One corner of the resort is reserved for families while couples seeking quiet and privacy are intentionally segregated to the larger side of the property. There was no mosquito, sand flea or any other insect problem whatsoever. The resort grounds, the view, the beach, the staff, the food... all A+... I could go on and on... This place was a home-run, no-brainer we'll be back agian & again. One more thing.. eat an Antiguan Roti your first day -- you'll get addicted quickly.

We spent the Christmas and New Years holiday at Carlisle Bay with two children ages 9 and 12. The rooms were big and beautiful with all the amenities. In addition to being clean, fresh fruit and other treats arrived daily. All the staff were incredibly nice, friendly, helpful and respectful. The property itself is lovely and public areas well decorated. The food was great by Caribbean standards with two good restaurants to chose from. Lunch could be ordered at the beach or pool. In 12 days we only left the resort twice for dinner. In fact there was little reason to go anywhere as the gym, spa, tennis, and watersports facilities were top notch. The tennis center was brilliant and offered super instruction. The kids took lessons and we all played every day. We never saw a sand flea, NOT ONE. Also no misquito bites. Most importantly, unlike A Cap Juluca type resort, even at full capacity, the resort never felt crowded and we had no problem with tennis, restaurant, or spa reservations. One caveat, the resort although child friendly, is more for couples, or families with small children. We definitely plan on returning.

Not what we expected - the reviews are generally accurate, but they forget to mention the awesome sport facilities. Numerous tennis courts, with complimentary lessons and use of the ball machine. Watersports instruction is included and we even managed to learn how to go solo with a hobbycat. The gym is well equipped and generally under used. The bay is calm and easy to sail or swim in. The breakfast is possibly the best meal of the day... go for the works. No hesitation in recommending...

Really enjoyed our weeks stay after the new year rush. Great stylish rooms, wonderful modern stateof the art library with broadband connection ( although we had a day without due to server problems). kept my husband boredom free, my child loved it and I chilled and did excellent pilates and massage in the spa. OK - it's expensive - a few outrageous prices for drinks - but no more than any other 5 star. The best thing about Carlisle Bay is the modern beautiful decor - stunning and stylish - and the gorgeous beach right on your doorstep - and the staff try their hardest. We will be returning!

After reading some positive and negative reviews, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on a few key areas:

Service - Excellent and very friendly. Staff goes out of its way to please. Extremely attentive and helpful. You will be treated extremely well.

Rooms - Big, spacious and clean. Steps from the beach and ocean. Housekeeping did a great job contrary to what I've read on this site.

Beach - Great beach and beach attendants always made sure we had chaises in front of our suite on the beach. Free watersports and a beautiful beach and view. Water was cloudy in surf but clean. Sandfleas I read about here were not evident. Girlfriend did get bit by a jellyfish.

Dinner - Two restaurants. Great food and no reservations necessary even though hotel was sold out. Wait times for food were not unusual. Overall, excellent. We had a private candelight dinner for two on the dock one night which was romantic and a standout.

Gym/Spa - Excellent. 5 star.

A great resort worth visiting.
