I spent 3 nights with my husband in an oceanfront suite, it was exceptional. The staff was wonderful, they went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. We arrived in the afternoon but our luggage never made it. The staff made special arrrangements for us to dine in the restaurant even though we didn't have the proper attire to change for dinner. We we given toiletries to use while the staff worked relentlessley with the airline to get our luggage delivered.

The resort and the staff were wonderful, I would definitely go back again!

My husband, 12 year old daughter and I have just returned from two weeks at Carlisle Bay. We were met in the Arrivals Hall by a representative from Carlisle Bay who made the paperwork and transition through the airport as painless as possible. A taxi was awaiting our arrival and we were in the Resort within just over an hour from landing in Antigua. The welcome we received was wonderful and we were given a short guide before being shown our suite. The suite we had chosen was a Beach front Suite (no 35) which consisted of a very large bedroom and equally large bathroom together with a spacious separate bedroom for our daughter. In addition, the veranda had a table and chairs together with a sun bed and we were literally two steps from the beach. We were on the Chill Out Week which basically meant breakfast and dinner were included. We ate at one of the Hotel's two restaurants every evening and never tired of the menu. The food was excellent and the staff more than happy to arrange for "off menu" items to be provided. Whilst the service was not the same instantaneous service you might expect in a city centre Hotel, any request was always qualified with a "that will be with you within the next 10 minutes" and it generally was. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the Manager made the point of talking to everyone at breakfast to sincerely check on their level of satisfaction and deal with any queries or concerns. Guest Services were happy to arrange excursions and we would certainly recommend the helicopter flight over a Montserrat - a once in a lifetime experience! A lovely resort which we do hope we will be able to visit again sometime.

This is a SIMPLY WONDERFUL resort.

- superb food. The breakfasts were the best I have had in the Caribbean - ala carte, as much as you want and simply delicious. The food quality and presentation at dinner were as good, if not better than many 5 star restaurants I've been to in the US or Australia.
- free wireless internet access, even sitting on the beach!
- gorgeous beach (lovely soft white sand, nice gentle waves, very clean, lovely palm trees, well spaced out beach chairs with plenty of room for everyone.)
- the rooms were very modern and perfectly clean
- coffee machines in the room
- lovely little library full of books & games
- ducted air-conditioning & large screen TV's

BAD POINTS
- none really
- it is a reasonable distance from any surrounding towns, so you can't walk to any other restaurants, but the food was so good we didn't want to


SUMMARY
- this is simply superb, and compared to other high quality resorts we stayed at, it is great value for money (For example, Carlisle Bay is many, many times better than Curtain Bluff on Antigua, Anse Chastanet on St Lucia or Cap Est on Martinique). This is so close to perfection, I am having trouble staying at other resorts.
Simply a perfect place for a romantic honeymoon or a relaxing holiday.

I felt sorry for some of the reviewers, who clearly had a bad experience. We had a most wonderful stay in the hotel, and generally found most aspects excellent.

Yes being relatively new they have experienced some teething problems and staff were still being trained. Some of the more experienced were excellent and able to cope with the slightly faster pace, generally adopted by Europeans and Americans. Sometimes the service was painfully slow and I agree with other advisors,that a get it yourself tactic had to be employed. However what you got, when it came was excellent in quality. The food in all areas was really impressive.

The beach is not the greatest ever, but is beautifully groomed and clean. The poolside area was wonderful. Service there was excellent. The gym and spa facility are excellent. The library very pleasant.

The Hotel did make a mistake with our room booking, meaning a room change the second day, but they were very apologetic and the move effected with minimum fuss.
The suites themselves are terriffic. The bathrooms are wonderful. I loved the simplicity, very therapeutic and relaxing. Again there were minor complications, that friends staying had with a coffee machine not working and taking 4 days to get cups for it. Also I agree ice buckets could sit outside the rooms for days, but they have excellent management staff and these irritations will go away. The management were very appreciative of any knowledge of problems and were very keen to see them rectified.

The other wonderful relaxing aspect of Carlisle Bay is noone is crammed in anywhere. There is always space, simplicity no clutter. It really works
