Just returned fron eight days at Cocobay. Having never been to the Caribbean before and never on an all inclusive holiday we didn't really know what to expect, but Cocobay exceeded any expectations that we did have.

Cocobay is in a fantastic setting surrounded by beautiful small beaches. They are often deserted once away from the main hotel beach. Ffryes beach, Darkwood beach and Turners beach are three good ones we visited. At Turners there's a great beach bar/restaurant called OJs - we had two good lunches - lobster and snapper, great burgers!

On arrival at Cocobay, we were allocated Room 26. The room itself was fine but the location poor - next to the main reception desk where the phone constantly rings; and overlooking the gravel drive with the comings and goings of taxis. This is ok if you don't mind a bit of noise, but we live in the countryside and particularly asked for a quiet room. We couldn't move the first night, but did so after that when we upgraded to a seaview room. The room itself was exactly the same, but the view was stunning and the peace....

The staff were great- really helpful and friendly, as was Austin the taxi driver. The food was really quite good. It comprised a good selection from the buffet for breakfast and lunch and waiter service in the evenings. There was definitely something for everyone. We did go to the Sheer restaurant one evening. The food was very modern - too many flavours combined for my husband's taste. We enjoyed the setting. The bar has a good cocktail list and will make anything provided they've got the ingredients.

Having read reviews here before going, we went armed with every mosquito repellent going - plug in device, suncream and aftersun with repellent and pegs for the net. We also lit the coil in our room every night and I'm pleased to say that we had no bites atall. The mosquitos were certainly a well discussed topic in the bar though and some people were bitten.

All in all we had an excellent, relaxing holiday. We would certainly recommend Cocobay and would definitey return there. It was very good value for money.

Our first time on the island of Antigua and we were very pleased with Cocobay. We typically stay away from all-inclusives but we were not disappointed with the food at Cocobay. There was a nice variety of food and the drinks were also good-watch out for the rum punch it has quite a kick when you are out on the beach!
The rooms were private, not too many extras but the hammock added a romantic touch, also the shower that opens up to the private deck is wonderful!
The beach is small, natural with sea grasses around but it is cleaned daily. There is another larger beach that you can walk to around the corner if you want some space to yourself.
We took advantage of the massages in the 'wellness hut' right at the waters edge that made for a very special day.
Many Europeans frequent Cocobay and I believe we were the only Americans at the resort during the time we were there. This made for fun conversation on the nice patio by the bar before and after dinner.
The only down side of the resort is that the Exercise equipment was broken when we were there, after all that good food we needed a little work out!

after having just returned from cocobay,i have nothing but praise for the resort.i had read reviews and was alittle scared at what i might find.after an interesting journey inthe taxi,we were welcomed with open arms and a stiff drink.although the weather could have been better(we had un seasonal downpours...and i mean downpours.....for hours)we had a great time.beautiful views and fantastic staff.if you are expecting great cuisine.dont.this is an all inclusive remember and they have to cater for all tastes.the food is good, better on some days than others, and i am a vegetarian.but i didnt starve at all.do go down to sheer9the other restaurant) the view is amazing and the food is good...really good.
all in all if you want a relaxing time and great views...plus some cute goats that wander around....then book coco bay.if you want excitement and discos then go to jolly harbour. this is about relaxing and forgetting about your other life
p.s take pegs..it will help with keeping the mosqitoes away from you if you have a holey net.

Cocobay is perfect if you are looking for a very quiet and relaxing holiday, the staff are friendly, the rooms are simple but have everything you need - we though it well worth the extra for a sea front room as it gives you complete privacy & beautiful views - the food was lovely as long as you don't mind trying somthing a bit different.

The only down side in our opionion were the mozzie's, even with the pegs for the net, the deet spay & the plug in repellants we both got badly bitten.

We would definately return to Cocobay in the future.

It's not for you if you want a sophisticated resort, however, if you want peace and tranquility with a beautiful view then you will probably love it. The rooms are individual chalets, plainly furnished but with balconies and hammocks that are perfect for gazing out to sea. Food in the all inclusive restaurant is very good on non -buffet nights. (When we were there, buffets were only on Sunday and Thursday - all other nights were served meals.) Service was excellent and came with a smile. The non- inclusive restaurant, Sheer, was also good - but if you are a non smoker and don't like others smoking around you during the meal, mention this when you book. We had one brilliant meal at Sheer and another spoilt by constant cigarette and cigar smoke. Service takes a long time at Sheer but if you are on holiday you can just relax and enjoy the sound of the sea on the rocks just below you. We came back from our week thoroughly relaxed.
