Just arrived home after two fabulous weeks at Cocobay and are very surprised by certain nationailties reviews - they are just so wrong. We would certainly recommend it to everyone, it was a perfect two weeks, sun shone, resort was well maintained, very clean, staff were well beyond words, manager was always seen walking about resort if there were problems and sorted them!
We stayed in a superior cottage which was cleaned daily, never saw a cockroach the whole stay. Certainly there were mosqitoes and you do have to deet up well, but where aren't they when you go somewhere so hot.

Food - well what can I say, breakfast was buffet and was varied to suit all. Lunch again was buffet, during our two week stay I think we only had the same thing twice, but it was always so fresh. Dinner was A La Carte and plentiful, food was outstanding and you always had service with a smile and wine was always flowing and of good quality. Bad wine - it certainly was not! Some people seem never to be pleased and it seems to be the same nationalities time and time over.

The wellness (spa treatment) cottage was also to a very good standard - I recommend all ladies trying the pIneapple package!

We are just very upset by the bad reviews from people who were obviously there at the same time as us and we had a perfect two weeks - There is just no pleasing some people and bouy could some be rude to the staff when there was simply no need!

Oh by the way, David's cocktails have to be tried they are simply to die for and they are not watered down - service always with a smile always knew what you wanted without having to be asked - amazing after only one night!

JJ, Pe Pe and Benjay are always at hand at reception if you want a cab anywhere specific on the island, but they also can do your own island tour if you so wish to which you'll get a whole airconditioned car to yourselves! - They are so accommodating.

The pool is cleaned daily before breakfast and the beaches eitherside of the hotel are both clean, white sands with tourquoise waters.

We must stress the staff at this resort are wonderful and there are so many we could name but the list would be on-going.

Everyone must try this resort its your perfect paradise.

Oh, so sad! We had been looking very forward to a relaxing holiday in the sun. And while the sun was wonderful, the resort was far from.

Our room, albeit beautiful, was over-run by bugs. Small bugs, that crawled all over our bathroom and the items we stored there; larger bugs, that crawled all through our clothes, biting us as we dressed; and even larger ones....yes, the dreaded (while harmless) tropical cock-roach, which crawled up the bug net that draped the bed!! Ugh. And then there were the bed bugs! We left half-way through our week, as I had run out of places on my body to sport bite marks (not a word of exageration!). At the beginning of the week we mentioned it it the front desk manager, who listened with a vacant gaze, and responded accordingly....nothing happened. Upon checking out, part-way through our pre-arranged, and pre-paid stay, the manager meekly asked if there was a reason we were leaving. Oh," I am sorry" she said, you should have said something!

Sadly, the food was terrible also. The never-changing menu made us dread meal times. And, left-overs from lunch re-appeared, only slightly altered at dinner. The house-wine was boring, and despite the fact that the web-page boasts a "wine list" we were never able to obtain a different wine, even when we wanted to pay extra.

All in all, we left early and were thoroughly disappointed by our experience. I really would never return, and would highly recommend that anyone considering this hotel find another choice.

We stayed at this Hotel for three days after a week on SeaDream II dodging the large swells in the Caribbean. We arrived early but the staff were friendly and efficient and within half an hour we were in our lovely 'cabin' all decorated with flowers. It was spotless and the plunge pool was an added bonus, if a little on the cold side. The room had a large bed with mosquito net, a ceiling fan and air-conditioning. We did not need the AC as the breezes and fan were enough to cool the room for the night. The bathroom was large with his,n,hers sinks but the shower spray was not good being too fine, also the shower area was very slippy.

The location is idyllic with views across a turquoise bay and lovely white sand beach. The buffet meals were adequate (after the outstanding meals on SeaDream they couldn't really compete) and our first evening meal was a BBQ which was disappointing. However the next two evening meals were very good. The cocktails David served at the bar were outstanding and the wine was good and you could have as much as you wanted. We noticed no watering down of the alcohol!

We had no trouble getting chairs on the beach or at the pool.

We really warmed to this resort and would recommend it.

I booked Cocobay as the description in the Virgin brochure seemed to be perfect for a relaxing week away. Whilst we had some concerns after reading some of the reviews and as this was our initial experience of 'all inclusive', I am pleased to say that we found our stay to be exactly that... very relaxing.

We stayed in a standard cottage (number 26) which looked out on to the entrance of the hotel. We found the cottage to be very comfortable and more than adequate for our week long stay. The bedroom/bathroom were always spotlessly clean and decorated with beautiful flowers upon our arrival. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed with matching furniture. The fridge was a nice addition as this meant your drinks and snacks could be kept cool. The bathroom was a little tired but the shower etc was perfectly fine (and clean). The view from our balcony/hammock wasn't what we had in mind as it looked directly on to the main entrance of the hotel and I suppose was the least appealing aspect of our stay. As in most hot countries the working day starts fairly early in the morning and Coco Bay is no exception. It would be fair to say that some guests may think that the room suffered from the outside noise from taxis dropping off guests and deliveries being made. But not us as we live in noisy area and always travel with ear plugs so not a problem for us. Another thing about noise - the rich and unbundant bird life in/around the complex does create quite a bit of noise (more than the taxis etc). We however were thrilled to see/hear these colourful little sparrows and hummingbirds and really wouldnt want it any other way. The close proximity to the entrance meant that we were unable to shower with the 'shower doors' open as which I'm sure everyone else was grateful of.

We found the buffet style breakfast/lunch to be excellent - Breakfast was a wide and plentiful assortment of fresh fruit salad, salami & cheese, croissants/pastries/bagels etc plus a marvellous egg chef who will happily serve you fresh omlette or eggs anyway you want with a smile - not bad for someone who reguarly serves over 100 omelettes in one morning!! Lunch was equally excellent with soups, salads, pasta, meat, chicken, seafood and fish dishes all very tasty and freshly prepared.

Dinner was an interesting affair and if you are reading this review, chances are that you have read previous reviews. Well dear reader, we can only tell you this. Yes the portions were on the small side and yes sometimes, the dish you ordered may not have quite lived up to its fancy name on the meny but you know what? The food was tasty and with a 4 courses menu on offer, it was very difficult not to feel full. With the buffet breakfast & lunch, plus afternoon tea (freshly made sandwiches and baked cakes or cookies ..which were still warm and lovely) surely there is enough food served throughout the day for even the largest of appetites to be saited.

David the barman was very accomodating and friendly - if you wanted a cocktail which wasnt on his list, he would gladly make it for you. We waited no more that a few minutes at the bar to be served which is more than acceptable - i have been in emptier bars with more staff and its taken longer to be served! The comments about the size of the drinks is laughable...its an all inclusive deal so of course the drinks may be on the small size so you order 2 drinks everytime you visit the bar..problem solved. We found the local beer (Wadadli) to be perfectly drinkable so I guess its down to personal taste.

We dined at Sheer one night but wont be going back. The menu featured some strange combinations (i had lobster thermidor which came with a mushroom broth!) but it was still very tasty and the setting is lovely. The local serving staff were excellent - where Sheer fell down on this occasion was with the attitude of the American manageress. I was unhappy about something and her reaction was to basically palm the blame on to someone else who wasnt around to defend themselves rather than taking responsibility herself. We eat out a lot in a variety of different resturants and what she did /said is really not what you would expect from a 'fine international resturant'.

The surrounding grounds, gardens and swimming pool are very well maintained. The view from the pool area is stunning and whilst the water is a bit chilly, you cant help but linger soaking up the view across to Jolly Harbour. The surrounding two beaches are good with lovely soft sand and clear blue water. We took advantage of the free hotel kayaks for a couple of hours too and really enjoyed the experience.

Regarding the hotel staff - we always found them to be friendly and very efficient.

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing resort to get away from it all then we would definatley recommend CocoBay..just make sure you have plenty of books, cards and your mp3 player .

only one thing to say about this resort and this is to check with your travel agent / direct with hotel before you go as it is regularly over booked and you end up staying else where. This happened to me and two other couples on our arrival and three more couples at the end of our stay(info from our rep at the hawksbill where we had to stay)
