We have just returned from two weeks at this resort.Overall was very happy and will break down each catergory.

Location

the views from the restuarant ,room(we had a beach waterfront) and the gardens are very hard to beat with the views from the outhouse bettering most i have seen.

Food

This was my first all inclusive and was overall satisfied with a few reservations to mention. The second week the hotel was full and the buffet in the eveings ran out of food on a copuple of night s whichj was annoying.Breakfas was good apart from sausgaes and marys outhouse the ribs awesome but again had to wait a while as well as with the snack bar...

Staff

Very friendly and happy to help with only one exception. The bars were well ran and the drinks were branded also. The watersports staff generally good with on eexception but at times it was like there empire and ours to borrow ,rather than ours having been paid for and to use.Got better as the holiday progressed and seemed most people happy with the variety.

Entertainment

was varied if a little stale but considering most people were in bed by 11 (even when hotel full) it is difficulty to criticize this. there is a late disco open till 1.30 but it is very quiet and the staff seem to play the music they like rather than what the tourists want,, but they will play wehat you want with a little persuation.

Overall

had its moments but loved it and after sandals update it in a year or too it will be awesome.the location is perfect and one of the best beaches on the island

We recently returned from our honeymoon at the Grand Pineapple and enjoyed it very much. We were about the only Americans there at the time, which made it kind of fun trying to figure out everyones accents. The beach is unbelieveable and the water was perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The food was average, but always plenty to eat (the fruit was great). The grounds are very well maintained and I saw groundskeepers raking the beach every morning. We had a beachfront room which needed some paint and new curtains (ugly gold ones in our room). The tour desk was a huge help to us because we could book everything we wanted to do through them. The drinks were a little puzzling at times, so we just drank beer. I would definitely recomend this resort if you want to relax, because it is very quiet on that side of the island.

My husband and I visited the Grand Pineapple for our Honeymoon. We had booked our trip thru expedia which was a nightmare.

The grounds themselves are very nice. Security gaurds were always around. However if you asked them any questions re: the hotel or the island, they had no idea.
The beach was gorgeous but no shells or anything great to look at.
Some of the staff was nice. We were the only americans staying there at the time, most were british. The staff bent over backwards for them and kind of ignored us.
The food was o.k., never hot, even if you were there when they first brought it out. And the flies drove you crazy, always had to have a plate over your drink or you were likely to swallow a fly.
For dinner you must make reservations, we were not told this until our 3rd night and they gave us attitude and stuck us in a corner table as if we were inconvencing them.

The nightly entertainment, oh wait there was none. They had a couple of people come in but all were nothing to write home about. Most nights we went to our room early since we were so bored.

All in all, I would never go back to Antigua and I do not recommend this hotel to anybody

We stayed for half term week with two of our children aged 13 and 21.We were upgraded to beach front rooms. The position of the hotel is idyllic with a fantastic white sand beach and turquoise water.Initially we were concerned that we were on the east coast (Atlantic side) rather than the more popular north and west but we did not find this a disadvantage.
The rooms were very clean with good air conditioning but this is the Caribbean rather than Manhattan so don't expect marble bathrooms or chic decor.Parts of the hotel could do with some updating but really this did not detract from our stay.Bedding and towels were changed daily. Meals were enjoyable with fantastic views from the open dining room.Be prepared for birds which constantly fly in to try and get scraps from the area but this would seem inevitable with an open restaurant in a complex with acres of garden. There is opportunity to eat at the slightly more formal "Pineapple Grill" restaurant but we found that the more usual beachfront "Topaz" restaurant to be preferable with friendly staff.Drinks of all sorts (including branded varieties) were freely available as was ice cream and fast food if desired. We found it family friendly with no dunken excesses of rowdy behaviour or late night noise.
Snorkelling ,canoes and wind surfing etc is available for no charge at the watersports centre. We all had a lovely holiday.

What can we say? Excellent.
I can't understand all the negatives about this resort.
We had read some of the bad reports about this resort and when we arrived we were very surprised.
We did have one question when we checked in. We had to pay a $200 deposit. Which we were told before we left we did'nt have to pay. We were told this by virgin and first choice. so go prepared.
We got to our room and yes it was in need of a lick of paint. But you don't come all this way to stay in your room.
Our wedding planner navella did every thing for us. So on the day every thing went with out a hitch. It was a day us and our group will rember for a very long time. We did have about five days of on/off rain but you can't buy the weather.
The food was great. At breakfast there was always a large selection of hot food, cerials and fruit . The birds were a bit of a pain but not realy that bad. My father inlaw can't have anything with eggs. So at evening meal time the kitchen staff had arranged a special menu for him. Which all he had to do in the morning was tell reception which resturant he was eating in and they would take care fo the rest. The pineapple grill was a good place to eat. The surf and turf was fantastic. Although you do have to pay $27.50 extra but it is worth it.
On the other nights we ate at the topaz. the food there was great and our wine glasses never stayed empty for long.
The pool side snack bar was very good and the kids loved the pizza.
Marys out house was fantastic. What a great view, and the ribs and chicken was the best we have ever tasted. Mary was very funny. always singing and giveing hugs.
As for the staff they could'nt do enough for us or our children. They were great and we made great friends.
The entertainment at night was fun but we did see the same acts twice. Which was'nt so bad.
Already made arrangments to go out there again. Lets hope sandles don't change it to much.
