I read a lot of reviews of the hotel before I decided to book my honeymoon, and was confident booking due to the awesome reviews this hotel gets. Obviously people complain, but it's for things irrelevant to my likings. If the water pressure is low, I'm thinking WOW, this beautiful little treasure of an island ALSO has running water! The staff at the hotel is very EXCELLENT, they upgraded us to oceanview which was marvellous. A plethora of yummy food to choose from!!! Yoga on my balcony every morning enjoying that MARVELLOUS view .. *breathless*. The hotel is cosy and has some sort of *magic* to it. Countless people come back over and over again.. and me and my hubby plan to every couple of years. Love Grand Pineapple!!!

  • Liked — The coziness of resort
  • Disliked — The fact that men must wear collared shirts to dinner!!!!!!!!!!!! REMEMBER TO BRING A FEW!

We stayed at the Grand Pineapple in March'08, & having read the reviews since last August were unsure of what to expect, but we needn't have worried! I travelled there with my husband, son(14) & daughter(12) for our anual family holiday, & can only say that we had the most relaxing ,enjoyable holiday we have ever had.

Rooms - We had two garden view rooms, & although the bathrooms could do with updating , they were fine, everything worked including the air con & more importantly they were clean. Views of the garden were lovely, & we could see the sea beyond this. Not too far from the beach, pools or restaurants, but far enough away so as not to be noisy. The only unwelcome noise we had was from the guests staying above us, but luckily they weren't there for the whole of our stay, & they weren't too much of a problem.

Food - We thought the food on the whole was very good. Mary's outhouse is a legend in itself, we weren't so keen on the a la carte Mexican & Italian, but really enjoyed the breakfast, lunch & dinner buffetts which catered for all tastes. The Pelican Snack Bar also made excellent burgers.

Entertainment - We didn't make it to much of the evening entertainment the first week, due to jet lag, however we saw a couple of really good bands the second week of our stay, Our children really enjoyed the daytime activities organised by Jules & his team, be it volleyball, cricket, water polo, kayak racing to name but a few. There were also activities for younger children.

Staff - We found the staff really friendly & helpful, they really made a difference to our stay. My husband mentioned that he had a sore throat & was provided with honey & lemon. We saw another guest who had been sunburned being offered aloe vera to soothe his skin, nothing was ever too much trouble.

Location - The resort is really well laid out with the restaurant & pools being located right beside the beach. Some parts of the hotel could do with a revamp (I think I read somewhere that it's happening next autumn) but its certainly nothing to worry about & doesn't detract from your holiday. The beach itself is stunning with plenty of loungers & space. You need to hire a car or taxi if you want to travel outside of the hotel as it's in a more remote location, however having driven around the island ,all of the hotels seemed to be in the same situation. Drivings easy as you drive on the left hand side of the road, & you can reach the other side of the island in half an hour. We only ventured out for one day, as we were having such a good time at the hotel. The early morning walk to Devils Bridge organised by the hotel staff was worth it.

All in all, if you take all the good bits from the other reviews, ignor all the bad, go with an open mind & most importantly adopt a laid back Carribean attitude you'll have a great time. We would definately recommend this hotel , and can't wait to return.

This was an amazing holiday at a charming and delightful resport. The staff were friendly and helpful, the meals in the restaurant were excellent.

The beach was quiet, the waters safe and warm to swim in.

Perhaps the only down side was the distance to be travelled and, therefore the cost to go by taxi to the catamaran trips that went largely from the other side of the island. However, there was plenty to do if you wanted activity and very relaxing if you just want to chill out.

Would certainly go to Antigua again - a delightful, friendly island.

  • Liked — Whilst basic in decor, the rool was clean, tidy and comfortable
  • Disliked — Beautiful view, the grounds were well looked after and it was never crowded

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day holiday at Pineapple Beach, which we thoroughly enjoyed and are now longing to return.

This is a wonderful complex which was not overcrowded and very friendly, although it is looking a little tired in some places, particularly the standard bedrooms which are very dingy, if you go I advise you to upgrade your room, we had an ocean view room which was very clean and extremely spacious with a most wonderful view. The only down side to these rooms is you have to climb a lot of steps to access them, but it does help to keep you fit.

The food overall, was quite good and very plentiful with a good variation of choice over 3 restaurants, not all open at the same time though, plus you have a snack bar and Mary's outhouse. The snack bar was excellent serving amongst other things, tasty burgers and hot dogs with delightful service supplied by Sherryanne and Maxine, this is all overseen by the commendable food and beverage manager Dale.
The gem in this resort is the Outhouse a unique and original shack up the hill with lovely cool breezes and spectacular view. The barbecued ribs and chicken cooked here along with cold beers are delicious. We would like to say a special thank you to Maxine who helped us to find my wife's parents names Alex and Jean which were written on the Outhouse way back in 1995.

The evening entertainment was quite good as well as plenty of day time activities if you wished to join in, although you may not want to drag yourself away from the wonderful beach. This is the finest beach we have ever lazed on with soft white sand and plenty of sun loungers. The sea was calm and gently shelving with no sign of any nasty jelly fish or sea urchins to spoil your day, and as a matter of fact during our stay we didn't get bit by any mosquito's either which was a huge relief.

The bars are well stocked with plenty of alcoholic beverages and the bar staff are very polite and efficient, in particular Sherylyne was very helpful towards us and made a huge difference to our holiday and we would like to say a big thank you for this. Another person we would like to give a special mention to is Jason a very polite young man.

We would definitely recommend staying at Pineapple Beach, we did have a wonderful time and have no complaints whatsoever.

As other reviewers have commented Pineapple is now owned by Sandals. If any Sandals personnel read this, then please do not change the complex or staff to much especially the Outhouse, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Sandals resorts are generally overcrowded so please don't overcrowd Pineapple, as you may regret it.

So once again a big thank you to Pineapple Beach from Richard and Sheryl.

we stayed at the pinnaple beach hotel for 12 days from the 18th april, the first suprise was we were upgraded from standard room to oceon view, the room was nice and the view was first class lovely blue sea,
the meals in the pinnapple grill were lovely the rib eye steak is a must it cannot be ignored.
marys shack has lovely ribs and chicken she is a lovely lady and when you greet her she embrasses you true antigan culture the ice cold beers in the fridges help the food go down.
the main restuarant is the topaz we felt the food there was not as good as the pinnaple grill but the staff made up for that as helpfull as you can get, a big thank you to jason and jaffa a holiday we will never forget.
the beach is right outside your door and the sands are pure white the water sports are outstanding what more can you say go there for the true carrabean culture.
