We came to the Grand Pineapple to get married and can honestly say that the whole 2 weeks were absolutely perfect. Our group consisted of myself, my husband and children aged 16,14 and 3. We were upgraded to inconnecting Oceanview rooms which were really roomy and far better than I expected (after having read so many reviews) A bit of a hike up but a good way of getting rid of the calories! They were cleaned daily and had fabulous views. The beds were huge and very comfortable. Everything worked well.

The Hotel itself is set in immaculate grounds and the beach is the best we have ever seen. Powder white sand and the bluest sea you could imagine. Plenty of sunbeds and the beach is never very busy. Lots of activities to keep you occupied all day if you want and the activities team are brilliant for entertaining the kids. Just watch out for sunburn. The temperature may not seem that high and the trade winds provide a gentle constant breeze but you can burn really quickly.

We found the food to be really really good. Breakfast was amazing and yes the choice is the same everyday but there is so much to choose. Lunch, we loved Miss Mary's outhouse. Brilliant chicken and ribs, amazing views and just unique. It's great just to sit there and read all the messages left on bits of wood and yes we did leave ours too! Miss Mary meets everybody with a big hug.The evening restaurants also served up some great meals and I don't know how people can complain. The staff are also really helpful and always smiling which is amazing when you hear some of the orders being barked at them from various hotel guests. It made me cringe to hear people being so rude.

Onto the wedding itself. Awwwww what can I say. Such a wonderful day. Novella the wedding co-ordinator did all the hard work and all we had to do was choose the colour of flowers and flavour of cake. We got married in the hilltop gazebo overlooking the beautiful sea and bay, cut our cake and drank champagne in the garden gazebo, watched on web-cam by our families and had our reception with a private table on the beach with fairy lights and the waves lapping nearby. What a wonderful way to celebrate your wedding and I would really recomend it to anyone thinking of marrying abroad.

Overall we had a fantastic, wonderful 2 weeks. I would highly recommend this hotel. It does need a bit of sprucing but that makes it all the more charming. We will definitely be going back in a few years unless it's spoilt by Sandals.

We stayed at the hotel from April 11-15. We were very disappointed in it. The grounds are very nice and the beach is great but the hotel is very outdated. We stayed in a beachfront room and it was great having the beach literally steps away and being able to see the water. The room could use a bit of remodeling and a fresh coat of paint at the very least. The bed was very hard and the boxsprings were being held up by a piece of a 2x4! We could hear the people upstairs walking around, especially out on their balcony. It was definitely not quiet at all! You could hear frogs all night long. The t.v did not have many channels and there was not very good reception. We were charged $3.00 for each collect call that we made. It was a "surcharge" and were charged even when voicemail picked up the call! The giftshop is outrageous, $2.50 for a candy bar and almost $3.00 for a small bottle of Gatorade. The food was pretty good but not much of a dinner selection. We could only get reservations for the Pineapple Grill for one night out of four and that was the best dinner! Breakfast was a buffet and it was good but usually the same stuff every morning. Lunch was a buffet with not much selection. The snack bar had burgers, pizza, etc. but was open at odd hours and you couldn't get food for about 1/2 hour after it opened because of slow service. The service is very, very slow. It always took about 15 minutes just to get a refill of soda and the waitresses acted like they didn't want to get it for us. There are birds flying all over the restaurant. I guess noone thought to screen it in. They drink out of your water glass and eat your food if you get up for a minute. We hiked up to the Outhouse for lunch one day. It is a very steep walk up a hill. It opened at 12:00 and we got there a little before 12:30 and the barbeque wasn't even ready yet. I had heard about the ribs and had my heart set on them and then they didn't even have ribs. Just chicken legs and thighs and we do not like dark meat! There was only one side item and some bread. It was disappointing!

One night we were bored and decided to go to the gameroom. The sign said that it opened at 5:00 and we got there at 5:30 and were told that it opens at 6:00. We went back around 6:10 and shot a game of pool. As soon as we were done, the attendant came down and said that we would have to leave, she was hungry and wanted to go eat and the gameroom would reopen at 7:00. This was madness! The gameroom had a bunch of slot machines and one pool table. The pool table was uneven and falling apart! It was disappointing. There is not much to do. You can go on excursions but it's very expensive and only on certain days. Plus, there has to be enough people going or it's cancelled. We went shopping, which cost $14.00 a person. A taxi took us to St. John's. We were let off near where the cruiseships dock and were constantly harrassed by taxi drivers wanting to take us around the island. The stores mostly had expensive jewelry and things like that. There wasn't a large selection of souvenirs. The t-shirt vendors harrassed us, trying to get our business. It was aggravating. The roads are terrible, very bumpy with livestock roaming all over the place! I wouldn't recommend driving on the island. There aren't many signs and some of the locals drive badly. The vegetation on the island looks dead or half dead. It is not the tropical paradise that I expected at all. There is also garbage all over the sides of the streets. I was very disappointed in the whole trip. This is a good place to stay if you are: older, trying to escape the cold weather and don't care about your surroundings, want to spend the whole day on the beach, have free alcohol, and are content with having nothing to do.

Six friends and myself just got back from the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort and had a nice relaxing time.

With the 7 of us it is hard to please everyone, but the beach and hotel were very quiet and calm. Some of my group would of liked to see it a bit busier but for the most of us we were fine relaxing on the beach and at the pool as that is what vacation is for...isn't it????

The Room - clean and fresh

The room itself was nothing fancy but are you really there to spend time in your room? It was clean, had a comfy bed and the housekeeping was fantastic.

The Food over all average I would say.

There are 2 restaurants and a small snack bar. You have to make reservations for dinners (all dinners) buffet or a la carte

Breakfast & lunch were buffet style; dinner depends on the night (sometimes a la cart and sometimes buffet).

Mary's Outhouse - serves the ribs + chicken.

Entertainment
Wasn't much for kids or for the adults either? Mostly steel band or piano.... would have really like to see some shows.

The beach is the nicest beach I've been to. The sand is power white/pink and the water is crystal blue/turquoise. There are Trade winds keep you cool while you tan (be careful) and don't get burned it can fool you.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me

We stayed here in September 2007 and we loved the place and the hotel.
when we arrived we were upgraded to a beach front room which was amazing, opening the door and seeing the beach! the room was big and the bed was large. bathroom was good size as well.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel makes you feel relaxed with its Caribbean feel which is great. It was lovely to just walk around the gardens in the hotel. Everywhere was clean and we had no problems at all.

The food was brilliant, there is always food avalible whenever you want. The buffet for breakfast then a either a buffet for lunch or a pool side snack bar that sells hotdogs, chips etc for something quick. drinks including cocktails avalible whenever, you can even help yourself to the pool side soda refill.
Food in the evenings was good, had a choice of two restaurants, however the main restaurant changes to an Italian some nights so they show this as a choice of three restaurant. There is plenty of decent food to choose from. you have to book your restaurant for each night, which is easy to do at reception.

The beach for us was the main thing, it was beautiful! always free sunbeds and lots of space. the pools were also really nice and again lots of sunbeds free for use. entertainment in the day by a guy called Jules who was very fun, volleyball, water aerobics etc.

make sure you walk up to Mary's shack the views are lovely and BBQ food and drinks to relax up there. also visit the tennis courts/gym at the back as there really are some great views up there. Also the trip around the island on the Wadali Cat is great and stops at some amazing beaches.

we would definitely go back to this hotel. i was slightly worried before i went with some reviews on here but really this hotel is amazing. i dont know how anyone can say a bad thing about it!

we are jealous of anyone going to stay there!
