Reading the other reviews posted makes the Grand Pineapple seem like some budget hotel offering a second rate experience of Antigua. In my experience it was almost the exact opposite! Our beach front room had amazing views and was right on the perfect soft white sand. The staff were friendly and would do what ever it took to make the experience a memorable one. Part of the charm of this place is that it doesn't feel corporate and over-done. It is in a beautiful spot and authentic, and I would definitely return here again.

  • Liked — the beach!
  • Disliked — the rooms could be updated but it was a minor point

My husband and I stayed one week at this hotel and were not too impressed. Upon our arrival, although check in was very rapid and courteous, we were given a tiny room on what they call the beachfront.. We complained about the room and were given a larger room with a better location. I don't understand why they did not give us the better room to begin with, especially since we had paid for it. The property is is need of renovations, the rooms, the common areas, the dining rooms, etc... We felt like we were in the 1960's. As for the food, breakfast was always very good, served as a buffet. As for lunch and dinner, the food was terrible. It also seemed like the staff was not very happy therefore service was lacking at all levels. The grounds could be beautiful if only better maintained. We also found that all the alcoholic drinks were watered down. We found that the clientele consisted mostly of older people ( 70 years and older ), some with walkers, we even had one gentleman with an oxygen tank. We would not go back to this resort.

  • Liked — Large counter around sink.
  • Disliked — Very small bathroom.

My husband and I stayed at The Grand Pineapple Beach Resort the week of Feb. 10th. Our stay was wonderful. The resort is beautiful and the people are friendly. The food was above average in our opinion for an "all inclusive". Take the 1/2 day Island tour excursion. It's extra but you learn so much about this beautiful island. Our "standard" room was smaller than we're used to. I would definately say book at least a "garden view" if not "ocean view" room. It's worth the extra money! Also recommend splurging for the lobster dinner at "The Pineapple Grill". It was the best I ever had. Also, not many people knew there is a fantastic free Art Class for both Adults & Children at the Resort. It was so much fun and I got to take home my seascape watercolor as a souvenier. The ocean water was a bit colder than we thought it was but that is probably because we were there in Feb. The water is crystal clear and georgeous all the same. All the previous reviews we read raved about "The Outhouse" and we know why...the food was delicious and the views were breathtaking. Make sure you take the walk up there. Be aware there is a constant breeze going when your on the beach. We were not expecting that and it got annoying at times. I asked out tour guide and he said there is a breeze year round. It didn't seem to bother anyone else though. To sum it up...GO! You'll have a great time. : )

10 years ago we were fortunate to have a mix up in our reservations. (I wasn't able to put the little 1998 date on the scroll down so that's why it says 2004!) We were booked for Sandals Wednesday to Wednesday when we were suppose to be there Saturday to Saturday. Sandals was totally booked due to a Full Eclipse of the Sun and Our travel agent mixed up but she got us Beach Walk Out suites at the Pineapple Club. For 3 days we stayed at this quiet paradise and enjoyed an uncommercialized, almost secret place. The Reef just off of the Beach had beautiful fish of many varieties. Super friendly staff, which matters to me. Loved the little eclectic bar up on the hill. It was worth the climb. Rooms were not as fancy as Sandals and our guys didn't like that they had to wear pants to dinner. They wanted to wear shorts and enjoy the warm breezes. Buffets were beautiful and pleasurable..not hurried and herded like some All Inclusives. Come Wednesday we made our move over to the Sandals Club where we were suppose to be...Too commercialized for me and I felt like we were all herded cattle during the buffet times. There was very little offered in between times so we all had to eat at the same time. I'm not a big schedule person when on vacation anyway. I personally would have loved to have stayed at the Pine apple club the whole week. The swimming out in front of Sandals was okay but wave runners every where and we needed to take a tour if you wanted to see any beautiful fish snorkeling. It was okay but I hope Sandals doesn't Ruin the Pineapple Club

My sister and daughter and I stayed here from Jan. 28 to Feb 4/08 . We had a wonderfull time . the Food was good. The rooms were great , garden view, we had a clear view of the water, very clean and gardens and all areas of the resort was well maintained, scenery beautiful, any thing you wanted to drink just ask for it. Staff very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the coffee was too too strong. Oh well we just made coffe in our room. The outhouse should be torn down and rebuilt, tacky !!! We all read a book , drank, ate, swam layed in the sun. Loved it ,we will go back and there will be more than 3 of us next year. We live outside Toronto you can watch BT city TV on channel 77 live at 7.00 Antiqua time. It was great we heard about the snow storm we were missing. E. ,A AND J from fergus ontario
