My wife and I spent 2 weeks at the Beach Club on the Atlantic side early in February and thoroughly enjoyed it. We got off to a good start by being upgraded to Upper Class on the Virgin Atlantic flight to Antigua. It was a bit chaotic at the airport, but we eventually got to the resort just after dark. We were offered a fruit punch on arrival and taken to our Room on one the motorised carts that are available at the resort. I have read all the previous reviews on this resort and many of them did make me apprehensive about coming here, but I can only say that our experience was much better than we could have expected. OK, so you can spend a lot of money to come here, and I think that is where some peoples expectations fall down. If you are expecting some 7-Star paradise for your money…that is not what the St James Club is….it’s a good solid 4-Star Resort. We have travelled extensively, and been in all sorts of accomodation...there was nothing wrong with this resort unless you just like to complain. The room was clean and spacious.... it was situated in the Mango Block overlooking the beach and the air conditioning was very efficient. We used Cocos Restaurant for all of our meals. Although we had the option to eat at the other restaurants, we found the food to be so good and varied at Cocos that we just didn’t bother (no french fries..hooray!), and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. If your wine glass was nearly empty it was soon filled up. We preferred the Atlantic side beach as it was a lot cooler. The seaweed didn’t bother us, and it was removed daily from the beach by the staff. We took advantage of the Timeshare visit which lasted about 30 Minutes with no pressure. For that we received a 70 US Dollar voucher to spend in the Club shop, and a 50 US Dollar voucher to spend in the Casino (we didn’t win, but we know someone who did!) We will definitely come here again.
