Stayed at St James club Feb 26 -March 7. For our wedding! This is a very beautiful resort. the landscape is quite a gardeners dream. We stayed in the Hyacenda part of the hotel, room 116 ,2nd floor beachview, which was very close to everything. Our 3 adult kids stayed beach view 1st floor.
There was a mix up with the rooms and they gave our flowers, fruit basket, robes, & Rum to the kids room. But we fixed that real fast.
All restaurants were great , but desserts are not their speciality!, Piccolo mondo was wonderful, We ate there on the nite of the wedding. Superb! Don't forget to go to HARMONY HALL for free snorkling and the best restaurant on the island. It's only a 40 min cab ride($60) away.. Very Romantic.
Expect on spending $100-$150 for lunch, WELL WORTH IT!!!!
Loved the tranquility of the resort, great palm trees to shade from the Sun.
REFLOXOGY on the beach was great. Don't miss it. $ 40 for 30 min. I am a massage therapist myself , he knew his stuff. Would book this place again.
PS. If your looking for a fast pace resort, look elsewhere, Their motto is

We visited this hotel in May 2004, and before we went we were told this was a wonderful luxury hotel, I can only say I disagree with the luxury part. It is a nice hotel but there is not a lot for children to do past 1730. The kids club closed at this time. I was also annoyed about being asked to pay for one of the all-inclusive restaurants, and for room service. As we with children know sometimes they are so tired they fall asleep just before you can get a reservation in one of the restaurants, as I had paid all inclusive why did I have to pay again? The grounds were nice and spotlessly clean. The food was OK, I have had better. We were impressed with the drinks golf trolley that came to the pools and beach every hour. Staff were very friendly and make a great deal of fuss over children it made my daughter feel very special.

We found the St James' Club the most fabulous place to celebrate my Father's 70th Birthday. With 13 of us and an age range from 7 to 70 we were not sure that The Club could cater for our varying needs, but with its various activities and contrasting areas it exceeded our expectations . The children spent most of the time in the sea, taking part in the numerous watersports (kayaking, hobi kats, pedaloes and waterski-ing - all for free). Not to be missed was the daily trip to Horseshoe Reef for the best snorkelling I have ever done. We visited other beaches on the coast, but felt the St James' beaches were quieter and better maintained (regular raking and tidying kept them pristine throughout our stay). We were on the all inclusive package and appreciated the drinks cart on the beaches and the fabulous pina coladas and rum punches, plus glasses of champagne with each meal! Service can be slow - but this IS the Caribbean and the staff were generally courteous and friendly. Our meal on the last evening at Picolo Mondo with a jazz band playing in the background was the highlight of our trip. Special mention must be given to the resident cab driver BARNEY who drove us around in his minibus - nothing was too much problem and he had an infectious laugh. The kids enjoyed Mr Moves limbo show at Docksider - a weekly event and the crab racing at the Kids Club. The view from our room of the Atlantic Ocean and from my parents room of Coco beach will leave a lasting memory.

Have just returned from St James's Club. I was a bit worried having read some very critical reviews, but having spent 10 days there with a large party - 12 people aged 7 - 70 - I can honestly say it suited all our needs and was a wonderful holiday destination.

We found the service to be very good . The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day and the staff always fulfilled our requests for more ice etc, though occasionally we had to wait a little while. On only one occasion at the Docksider restaurant did we have to wait a long time for the main course to arrive, but in view of the fact they were incredibly busy with a wedding party and at full capacity, this was understandable. The staff were generally very friendly and polite. The facilities were very good and the children's club excellent. We found the food to be consistently good too with the exception of two average lunches at Rainbow Grill. Piccolo Mondo was very romantic, though we didn't feel the need to go there much as we were a family group and not looking for an intimate setting. The all inclusive package was excellent - you could always get either fish or seafood on the menu without having to pay a supplement. Drinks were always wonderful - the French champagne by the glass was pleasant and the drinks cart on the beach was a lovely idea.

The watersports staff were great - good instruction and patience with children and adults alike. We particularly loved the waterskiing and the daily snorkelling trips to horseshoe coral reef, which was teeming with fish and is about 10 minutes boat ride from the beach.

Our club rooms in the Hibiscus block 109 & 110 had wonderful views of the sandy Atlantic beach which is simply beautiful. The gardens at the Club are lush and very well tended.

Please don't be put off by some uptight reviewers who feel that strict dress codes and staff jumping to attention when you click are essential requirements of a good holiday. The St James's Club has a laid back and understated elegance - it's just perfect for unwinding.

My Husband nd I went on feb 18 through the 25, we had and absolute wonderful time. we were greeted with a drink and plenty of smiles. our room was very up-to-date and very clean. we choose not to bring our kids because we wanted a getaway by ourselves, but their were plenty of kids there and they were having a great time, this resort can be great for familys with young kids or couples. because the resort is very spread out you are never feeling smothered by other people. We also enjoyed the food very much, we were so full the whole time we feel as if we ate the entire time, you have to make reservations for dinner, but that was just fine with us because even it we ate after 8pm it was fine because we were still full from lunch. Shastri is in charge of the nightly entertainment and he does a wonderful job!! overall it was a very memorable trip i would highly recommend this resort!!!
