We've just come back from a fantastic week at the St James's Club & cannot fault the resort. The icing on the cake was being upgraded to a spacious 2-bed villa on arrival, the views over the bay were beautiful & we felt like we'd joined the millionaire club!
The staff were very friendly, if you responded to the staff's friendly
manner everyone spoke to you, from the managers to the gardening staff
& everyone in between. The main pool ran out of pool towels at the end
of one afternoon so a porter went to the laundry to get one especially
for my daughter. Golf buggies appeared quickly at the accomodation when
requested to whisk you off to dinner, the beach or anywhere else on the
complex. The food was of an exellent standard at all the restaurants.
It was nice to find that the style of dining varied most nights at the
3 restaurants. You may have buffet one night, but if you returned to
that restaurant a couple of nights later you found that there was
waitress service and an extensive menu to choose from.Wine glasses were
topped up frequently without you having to ask. The swimming pools were
well maintained, the only comment I'd make was that the children's pool
had a rather rough lining, not tiled like the other pools, so it was
easy to scrape you knees. The beach & pool bars had every type of drink
you could think of. There was very little time spent waiting to be
served even when a lot more people arrived at the resort for half term.
If you are a family we'd recommend hiring a car for the day rather than
using taxis. The price of a trip to St John's would pay for a day's car
hire which gives you more flexibility. We went to English Harbour, did
the scenic drives that are in the guide books and spent an afternoon in
St John's in one day.
To be objective, the only disappointment was that the water in the bay was not clear enough for snorkelling, but there plenty of other water sports to keep you happy.
Overall we'd thoroughly recommend the resort.
