Absolutely stunning setting, with lush green back drop behind the beach and the hotel, awesome to look back at while swimming in the sea! Beautiful views from reception.

We stayed in main building - rooms spacious and well designed and didn't miss having aircon at all - fan and a through breeze were perfect. However the rooms were basic and a little tired but comfortable.

Watersports 9am till 4pm. Non-motorised free, pay for waterskiing etc if you want it. Plenty to go round while we were there.
We would go back. If you go expecting natural beauty and slightly tired rooms then you should be pretty happy.

The Hawksbill is a great place to stay if you want rest and relaxation. Each manager took special care of every guest. The service was timely on drinks and food. The food was: breakfast - really good, lunch - really good, dinner - good. The resort provided non-motorized water sports equipment (sea kayaks, small sail boats, snorkel gear). Honeymoon cove was a great place to stay. The rooms were clean. 4 beaches - including one clothing-optional beach give you variety. When you want to wash the salty water off, the pool area is very nice with easy access to the lunch buffet and the pool side bar. We rented a car, which allowed us to see much of the island. The car was provided on site at the resort - very convenient. I say again that several standout members of the staff made the stay purely pleasurable at a reasonable price for all inclusive. The food was above average. They had crab races on Sunday night, which were funny. There was also live entertainment about 3-4 nights a week, with a manager's cocktail hour on Monday. There is a gift shop on site for small items. Calling to the US is pretty expensive but local calls from the room are reasonable. I would suggest a day trip to St. Johns and a trip to Half Moon Bay beach. If plush, lavish decor is what you are going for, go for something more expensive. If you are going for R&R in the sun and excellent service and care at a good price, then stay at the Hawksbill - you will be impressed.

  • Liked — The great location of our room and the friendly and accomodating staff
  • Tips/Secrets: — Rent a car and take a day excursion around the island - experience the culture

We chose Hawksbill Resort mainly due to the reviews on Tripadvisor and have got to say that we were not disapointed.
We stayed for a week in October towards the end of the hurricane season - during the day , we had really good weather (apart from one day) and during the night, a few thunderstorms.

We were upgraded to a beach cottage where you could hear the sound of the waves on the beach (no TV - great!). Room was basic but comfortable and kept clean (remember mozzie plug-ins and fly spray though).
Staff were very friendly and were very generous with the rum measures! Food was pretty good (especially breakfast and lunchtime grill) although a bit more variety on starter buffets would have been nice in the evening. House red wine really good too. Good evening local entertainment. It is quite a social atmosphere with avg age group around 35-55 and at least 70% english so if you're after a quiet romantic getaway or non stop partying, it may not be for you.
We did a trip to Shirley Heights for the steel & reggae bands and sunset which was pretty good although there's not much to do once you're there apart from chill out and listen. Also did snorkelling trip to Cades Reef and a Eco boat tour with Adventure Antigua - both really good apart from the jellyfish!
This was our first trip to the Caribbean and we were very happy with Antigua and Hawksbill and would most probably return. Only one word of caution - Hawksbill is a very good 3.5 star resort as advertised and prices reflect this - don't go expecting a 5 star resort and you won't be disapointed.

We were given an upgrade to one of the lovely rooms on Honeymoon Cove as we were celebrating our wedding anniversay. I would receommend these rooms as they have air conditioning, and as well as keeping you cool, this also helps keep the mosquitoes at bay.
The room was lovely and had a fantastic view. The hotel itself is lovely, very peaceful with plenty of space. There are 4 lovely beaches and you are never bothered by beach sellers here.
The food was lovely and the staff are exceptionally friendly, happy and helpful. We particularly loved Jeremine, the bar supervisor!
The hotel manager is very 'hands on' and can be seen most days walking around checked that everyone is happy and having a good time.
I would say that this hotel is best suited for couples, rather than families as there is not much for younger children and teenagers to do.
A perfect holiday. We intedn to go back again soon.

Arrived in the hotel very late at night after spending a superb week in Barbados. Initially my husband and teenage daughter were unhappy. We were taken to our room which was very basic but was nice.

After we'd slept and were less grouchy, we took a tour round the hotel. Everything seemed much nicer and the location of the hotel is just amazing! The beaches were lovely and the staff seemed very pleasant.

As I said, rooms are very basic and didn't really meet expectations but in a way, that adds to the holiday and makes it more unique.

Food is average and the lunches are great but dinnertime might not suit children/teenagers as most of the dishes are suited to adventurous adults. The bar and other facilities were good.

We were not there in peak-season so there were very little guests there-which we prefered as it was nice and quiet-so little entertainment was laid-on but we've been assured it's a much livelier place in season.I'd recommend this hotel for someone looking for a relaxed beach holiday. But definetely go out and explore Antigua-Shirley heights on a Sunday night is a MUST! The sunset is phenominal!
