We have just got back from The Hawksbill and can't wait to go back. This is a place you will either love or hate. Clearly we love it.
Four fabulous beaches, two lovely restaurants, freindly and attentive staff and a very visible management team.
Entertainment is of a local nature and of a high standard.
On monday's there are four Senoir Antiguans who perform calypso music using the simplest of instruments which i'll leave you to discover when you go.
The beaches are clean and quiet and the sea safe to swim in and as clear as can be ( unless theres a storm ).
The food is of good quality with a huge buffet breakfast with everything you could possibly want, supplemented by a chef cooking eggs any way you can think of.
Lunch comprises a special plus fish always, pasta, salad or even burgers and hot dogs if you wish.
Afternoon tea consists of cakes, biscuits and sandwiches at the beach bar and very nice it is too.
The evening meal has a few different formats, BBQ, A served meal or a Buffet, all are good quality and have considerable variety so if a dish doesn't appeal to you there's alway's an alternative.
The room we had was a Superior Sea View and it was huge.
We had two king size beds, a big wardrobe, a shower room and toilet together with a superbly lit miror over a big sink.
Outside we hasd a very nice big balcony and we were only 30 yards from the sea.
The room was serviced daily by Edna who did a great job even changing the sheets, pillow cases and towels every day as well as mopping the floor daily.
The refrigerator in the room was of great use to keep a supply of cold water although it's always available from a dispenser at the beach bar.
The beach towels are lovely and big and fluffy and can be changed as often as you like.
The wildlife is fascinating - Sheep, Goats, Birds, Fish, Mongoose, Crabs to name but a few.
I have so many photographs i don't know what to do with them all.
Although the Hawksbill is 'All Inclusive' it is nice to go out to the capital St Johns or maybe to Shirley Heights or for a meal.
I would reccomend 'Le Bistro' or the 'Home Restaurant', both superb ( but not cheap ).
Local people welcome you with open arms ( after they get to know you ) as i found out by walking to the local village ( Five Islands Village ) every day.
It's about two miles and great excersize.
Talking about excersize you can keep a check on your weight at the Hawksbill because every room has bathroom scales.
Fortunately the batteries were flat in ours and i never asked reception to replace them.
Overall it's a great place to get away from it all, very quiet, laid back, restfull and stress free, just what most people want in a vacation.
I would recommend the Hawksbill by Rex Hotels most highly, i'm sure you won't be dissapointed with what i think is a great value hotel
