We returned for the third time and found it even better - the food was really good, we love the 'catch of the day' at lunch, the varied dinners and wonderful breakfasts. The cocktails are out of this world, both alcolic and non alcolholic.++
The staff are very helpful and the accommodation very clean. Linen was changed regularly and Brenda who cleaned our room remembered us from our last visit as did many others!!!
The setting is idyllic and the wealth of flora and animals incredible. We even saw a turtle in the sea off the 'Eden' beach. So many butterflies, a heron, pelicans etc.
I can't understand the grouchy comments I read about this hotel, it is really wonderful, we have recommended so many people to visit and they all love it, especially the laid back atmosphere.

The food is the best I've ever tasted and I am a retired cook in Great Britian. The peace I got in this hotel with the sea and sand was fantastic. I hired a car and drove around the island in one day which was an insight into the Antiguan way of life, went on a cruise on a catamaran -Treasure Island Cruises - this was great. At the hotel we could take the taxi shuttle 3 days per week to St. John's the capital. The staff are excellent and friendly. On the moring before I left which was a full moon I was snorkeling in the sea but in the afternoon when I went for a swim I had to be saved by Myron - the watersports attendant who came to my rescue after being trapped by the new high seas. A wonderful place to stay, I will definitely be coming back.

This hotel is set in a fabulous location, the view of the resort from the restaurant is truly spectacular.

I would agree with some other reviews that the resort could do with redecorating and modernising but this only detracts marginally from the experience.

We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, not at all rude as other reviews have mentioned. The food was generally good, plenty of choice on both the a la carte and buffet nights in the restaurant.

Sandals it certainly isn't but if you want sunshine in a great location I would recommend this place.

Just arrived back from the hawksbill after reading other reviews that did made me nervous of going, i must say the only fault i would have (maybe fault is the wrong word) would be that the rooms do need upgrading and re-decorating but are very clean, have stayed in worse. We found the hotel staff to very very nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble if you needed any thing, they went out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. Food was great and plenty of it but the jewel in their crown must be the location, you would find it hard to beat in antigua, the view from the restaurant looking towards to resort is beautiful. The resort is very spread out which gives you a feeling of privacy, i have never been any where before where you have not had to get up early to 'put the towels out' more than enough sun beds. Take plenty of mozi spray as it is a very tropical island but the rooms have tablet machines in them and you can get plenty of spray from housekeeping. Average age group i would say is 35 and above not for children or people after a 'busy night life' if you want relaxation and to get away from it then this is for you. I would certainly return.
