My wife and I just got back from our first visit to Curtain Bluff and second trip to Antigua. Antigua is a friendly, laid back, relaxing island. Don't look for any high rises here or large resorts with casinos and 15 pools, etc. Antigua is ... well....Antigua. Narrow roads, lots of goats and cows roaming around, and some of the most absolutely gorgeous beaches, sunsets, and views you will find in the Caribbean. Before I get to CB, let me comment on the people of Antigua. They want you there and are happy to see you. My wife and I got lost one day and stopped to ask directions. The young man said - follow me - jumped in his car and drove 5K to our destination and he would not take a tip - just waved and said have a nice day. Another member of our family had a flat tire - a car following them stopped - a man jumped out and changed the tire for them. There were other examples.

Now Curtain Bluff - what a wonderful resort. Its Caribbean open air design is fantastic. Our room ( a suite) was superb. It was hot last week so we ran the air conditioner at night and slept comfortably and were still able to here the surf crashing outside our room. The maid service was top notch. Never a problem. Always had towels, etc. Bed was very comfortable. Bath was huge and well stocked. Always had hot water and plenty of it. Refrig was stocked with bottled water, soda and beer all week!

The food was plentiful and expertly prepared. Breakfast (730AM-930AM) was fine. Eggs (any style), pancakes, french toast, etc. Fresh breads and pastries. All you wanted. On the way to breakfast I picked up the NY Times summary passing thru the library. Continental Breakfast served til 10-1030 if you miss. Lunch was served bay side at the beach grill. You had your choice of a great salad/fruit/fish/, etc. buffet or a grill menu. I am a fried shrimp fan (on the menu). Burgers, club sandwiches, etc. Afternoon Snack at 4 outside the bar - cookies, cakes, cheese, fruit. Hors Doerves at 7pm and dinner seating from 730-930PM. Dinner is a 5 course meal - Soups/Salads/appetizers/entree/desert. Entrees - 5 choices a night...2 seafood/2 meat/1 pasta usually. Outstanding dinners! Drinks - all day 10AM-11PM - anything you want. Top shelf selections.

Activities - fabulous. We loved the bands that played thru dinner until 11PM. All kinds of music. Excellent. On the bay - any water activity you could think of - Deep sea fishing, snorkeling, scuba, water skiing, Hobies - Kayaks, paddle boats, sailing - all right there and ready to take you - included!

Nice library. Sundries and resort shop.

Tennis facility - beautiful! Spa - fantastic! Work out room/Gym - not the largest I have ever been in but top notch equipment and a great palates/aerobics/yoga workout space. Putting green too ouside the dining area!

The grounds - simply beautiful. The pics don't do it justice.

Manager's cocktail party on Thursday night! Great way to mingle and meet other guests in an absolutely stunning home at the top of the bluff.

I honestly can not think of one negative thing to say about CB.

Last but not least - the people of Curtain Bluff. Starting with Rob and his family(the manager) down to all the staff we interacted with daily - what a team! They really made us feel at home. We had one of the best weeks we have ever had at a resort. Thanks Curtain Bluff !

We just returned from a week long stay at Curtain Bluff, and I can say (without reservation) that it was the most wonderful experience! As is true with so many Trip Advisor members, we have traveled extensively. However, Curtain Bluff is like no other hotel.

From the moment my husband, two daughters (15 1/2 and 13), and I arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. Rob (general manager) took us on a tour of the grounds within 30 minutes of our arrival. He then had another employee give us a tour of the wine cellar (wow), and the kitchen. (How's that for confidence in your kitchen?) We also met the chef during our kitchen tour.

We stayed in a one bedroom Executive Suite--fabulous. I can't believe how much room we had. And I love that there are no televisions in the rooms.

The food is unbelieveable. Dinners, in particular, are outstanding. Desserts are fantastic, too. And one evening, our waiter brought a plate of shortbread after dessert was served. I asked for it the next night, and the next...and each evening, our waiter brought me the shortbread--even though it wasn't on the menu. Any request which we had was met, with a smile.

The facilities are so welcoming and comfortable. However, it is the staff and the owners which really make the hotel. I have never been to a hotel with staff like that at Curtain Bluff. They are warm and gracious, and we were on a first name basis with a few of our favorites by the end of the week.

The owners, Chelle and Howard, are very visible at the hotel. They eat with the guests, and mingle with everyone (especially Chelle--she couldn't be more charming). The weekly cocktail party at their home is hard to believe (imagine--hotel owners inviting guests to their home). When we left on Saturday, Chelle, Howard, and a few of our favorite staff came to say goodbye. As we pulled out, Chelle stood by and waved us off.

Curtain Bluff is very special--like nothing we have ever experienced before. It's truly a top notch, elegant hotel. But the feel is more like visiting your favorite aunt and uncle's house for a summer holiday. Go--you'll love it.

We found paradise at Curtin Bluff. Our Jr. Suite was spacious, comfortable, nicely furnished, well maintained, and spotless. The bathroom is the size of a boutique hotel's sleeping area. Our patio was on the beach and a few steps from the water.
The grounds have beautiful lush plantings that create a garden environment. The beach is never crowded and there is a selection of chairs at all times, most with hugh wooden umbrellas for shade.

The quality of meals ws equal to a top New York restaurant., a remarkable achievement for an all inclusive resort.
The friendly but quiet atmoshpere is condusive to complete relaxation. The owners are always around with a friendly hello.
At Curtin Bluff the only needs not meet are those that are not verbalized.

We travel frequently and stay at 5 star hotels. Curtin Bluff met all of our expectations and belongs in the elite group of top hotels.

I cant believe the report slating this hotel, did he really stay here ? or perhaps he is one of lifes moaners.

I have been fortunate enough to stay at some of the owrlds best hotels and put Curtain Bluff right up there with them and in terms of value for money i would say it exceeds them.

We had a junior suitethat leads straight onto the beach, the room had a large bathroom and a nice balcony on the beach.
We were asked what drinks we would like our fridge stocked with and this was replenished whenever we requested it to be.

To those who have reservations about an all inclusive resort don't worry, this is not a burger and fries type of set up. The day time beach restaurant is excellent with a buffet and lunch menu to order from. The evening meals are a la carte of the very highest standards.

The beach is fabulous with agreat choice of watersports which are all free including the deep sea fishing and scuba diving. There are also various other sports available around the beach area. The 4 tennis courts are great quality and were always available. The gym is slightly dated but is being refitted this summer,

All in all this was an excellent hotel and we plan to go back next year which is a rareity for us. The hotel is not super modern like carlisle bay but is half the price, we find that the rustic charm of the hotel adds to its qualities,

I will begin from the top. Driving to the facility was less than desirable. Between the homes and the homeless roaming the street, I didnt feel the safest. Directly next door to the resort appears to be tenaments and broken down shacks. i did not exactly feel safe at this resort due to what directly was surrounding, in addition to the no locking of the door policy when you're not in the room. I think this policy is absolutely ridiculous! I want my room locked, safe in the room or not, when I am and am not in it! The walk to the room was another pitfall to this trip. Walking up stairs outdoors in the humidity with about a million gecco's running across my feet was truly undesirable. There was a gecco in my room. Not exactly what i want to wake up too! For the room--no air that circulated to the bathroom, old blankets that couldnt keep you warm, uncomfortable mattress and pillows where i woke up with pain thru out my whole body and im only 31 in great shape, rust all over the faucets and drains, old furniture, minimal shower pressure and the shower knob came off in my hand....the list goes on, but you get my point! There is one dining facility--now bear in mind, this is an outdoor hotel....there is no air...the humidity is ridiculous and if it rains u must walk in the rain to get dinner...at least they supply an umbrella....but when its pouring, its not optimal to leave your room after getting ready to walk in the rain to sit in a outdoor food area, tent or not! I ordered breakfast to the room the night before and it never came! The lunch was a buffet due to the rain with a long line and the selection was not up to par or for my taste. I am well traveled and have eaten in the best restaurants in the world. I was truly disappointed by this aspect! There is no night life. A small band plays by the dining hall and theres a library to read and thats it! I was bored and in bed at 10pm. I wish i couldve watched tv in my room or surfed the web. Yet another drawback of curtain bluff, no tv or internet access in the room. You must watch tv with a bunch of strangers and forget picking your channel if you get there late. So we were there for a day and left the next, it was that unbearable. I dont recommend this place unless they do some serious reonvations and updating and cater to a crowd under the age of 65.
