“serenity is wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2008

Our family had a wonderful stay at Serenity this past Xmas.
Keneth and his staff were the friendliest, most wonderful people in Anguilla. Excellent hospitality. The breakfast was delicious, she took a lot of care in preparation and presentation. We loved the room and the showers. My sons walked down the beach to meet friends and we loved the quiet here. Would come back and soon!
Never had one problem. When the housekeeper was going to be off, she left extra towels the night before. The restaurants like Scilly Cay, Kokos, Hibernia, were close by. The other places Picante, Mangos, Veya, Blanchards, Barrel Stay, Straw Hat were a little farther but we had a car and didn't mind the 20 min.

  • Liked — clean, beach, restaurant, quiet
  • Disliked — no internet, well, it had internet but didn't work

Serenity was such a wonderful place to stay in Anguilla. Kenneth, the owner, and all of his staff treated us to a fantastic stay. The room, grounds, and bar/restaurant were amazing, and we cannot wait to return. A special place on a special island.

Serenity is a nice, quiet, relaxed place right on the beach. For those who know Anguilla, its just around the corner from Gwen's. Serenity has one and two bedroom units. We stayed in a 2-BR. It was a very large unit -- big bedrooms (with A/C units), nice marble bathrooms, a full size living room, well-equipped kitchen, several phones (the dollar a call charge for local calls is annoying), several cable TVs, a nice terrace with table, chairs and lounge chair. It was all very modern and very clean, and well taken care of. It is actually nicer than it seems on their website. Serenity is small - maybe 8 units or something like that. They are building a few more which look like they should be done pretty soon. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the bar was good for some evening drinks, and the restaurant has a nice view. The Serenity staff was very competent and very friendly and helpful. The guy who owns the place (Kenneth) was cordial and we enjoyed talking with him. The beach right in front of Serenity is not the best in Anguilla - sort of crushed shells rather than soft sand. But you can walk 20 meters down the beach and its typical soft white Anguillan sand, and that continues on all the way down Shoal Bay East. There are good beach bars on SBE - including Gwens and Uncle Ernies II (tropical sunset). With the new road, its only 5 minute drive to Island Harbor, so easy to get morning pastries at Le Bon Pain (just get there early before they run out). Many of the best restaurants are on the west side of the island, so if you stay near SBE you may be doing some cross-island driving, but its not that far -- and in any event there are some good places on the east side, such as Nats, Kokos, Hibernia and others. If you are looking for a quiet, reasonably priced (for Anguilla), friendly, clean and well maintained place in Anguilla, Serenity would be an excellent choice.

WOW! What a wonderful place, we had a great time. The view of the beach, food, , and the people are wonderful. Kenneth was a very graciuos host, can't wait to see him again in 2005. This year I'll be bringing along a few more friends and we are planning on having a spectacular time there. If you are planning a trip to Anguilla this is the place to stay, it's out of the way and quiet. We love it!

We stayed for a month with Kenneth at Serenity and found that he is one of the most respected men on Anquilla. He is kind and is very helpful to us...whatever our needs. Yes, it is true that Shoal Bay east isn't near the most popular restaurants, but it is certainly the most relaxing area....beach beach and more beach. Sundays are exciting as you can walk the two mile beach and never be bored...live music up and down the beach!!
I would be interested in the details of your trip....why would such a wonderful man treat his guests in such a bad way that you would be compelled to share your experience with the world?
We love Anquilla and it's people......we are going back for a month early 2005...can't wait.

I also feel Kenneth was nothing but kind and very accomodating. He even set us up with some local friends who took us scuba diving and had dinner on Scrub Island (lobster with a campfire!) The food was good, not the best and definitely not the worst. I've even recommended the place to several friends and family.

I loved the place. I was one of the first to stay there. The location is great...Shoal Bay East. The beach is the best. Not crowded at Serenity but if your looking for the action, walk down the beach a short distance and find Gwenn's, Uncle Ernies, and Madereiman. I tried to book it again for this year, but, I,m on the waiting list. For the money, the place cannot be beat and I have been going to Anguilla for the past 16 years. Now, whoever said that the owner Kenneth Rodgers was less than absolutley wonderful is really sick. Kenneth was great. He made the trip very, very comfortable for my wife and I. He is the owner in attendance, on th e property every day. If someone had a problem with him, than something is seriously wrong with that person. You can,t please everyone but those that I know that have stayed there will continue to stay there if they can get in.
