You can't fault the rooms or the standards of the resort overall. Very luxurious (but boy do you pay for it). However, it has no holiday/caribbean atmosphere at all. It seems to attract New York lawyers or other East Coast business wannabes who spend all their time e mailing, faxing, blackberrying, cellphoning etc. Reception in the morning is just like a New York hotel during an investor conference and the beach restaurant at lunch time is little better. Be warned - unless you want to boast a multi million dollar job at the cocktail parties, no-one will want to talk to you.
The kids club activities that are promised all failed to materialise (every day for a week) but to be fair our daughter still had a great time as the lady running the club is brilliant. (Our daughter was the only child in the club despite it being Spring break).
Beach is lovely but after 2 days a wind sprang up and the beaches on the other side of the island were much better. The staff told us that this happens most of the time ie its the prevailing wind.
If you have kids go to the Malliouhana hotel which has a wonderful kids club and pirate ship with water slides. Also a brillant pool with diving boards and a great beach. We had a wonderful time there and the guests even smiled and relaxed!!
Little Bay snorkelling is great but go by car and the $5 boat ride from the local beach - don't pay the $90 for the Cap Julucca boat
Overall, Cap Julucca and much of Anguilla is for the private jet and yacht crowd who want an East Coast atmosphere with Caribbean weather. If u are a relaxed fun lover, stay away!(and go to Orient Beach in St Martin where the French know how to lay on great food and party without the pretension).
