“Anniversary of meeting new friends at Dionysos.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We have just had a wonderful week at Dionysos with friends that we first met onboard one of Ahmet's lovely boats, this encounter was the start of a great friendship, this is not an unusual thing to happen at Dionysos as so many people return year after year and meet like minded friends! The welcome that we received was warm and friendly and from the first welcome drink, we were relaxed and looking forward to our first of many meals in the lovely terraced garden restaraunt overlooking the fabulous pool and Kumlubuk Bay below. The breakfast area is another sunny terrace with good service from the many waiters who welcome you with a smile!.The food is mostly from their own farm high up in the hills above the hotel, fresh produce very well presented. We mostly enjoyed the Sea Club which is a short bus ride down to the beach in Kumlubuk Bay, this consists of small decked areas with large cushions and loungers all with shade, all set close to the waters edge. The view out to sea is superb, and up above the beach is a lovely shaded terrace with the same view where you can have lunch and a little respite from the sun.We enjoyed a day at sea again on a new boat that the owner Ahmet has just aquired, this was a lazy day with stops in lovely bays to swim and then a super lunch with wine and soft drinks and glorious sunshine!! The hotel rooms have been recently re furbished to a very high standard with lovely mood lighting and I pod docking and some fabulous antique pieces in each room which add a very Turkish feel to them. Our lovely view from the terrace on an evening made it quite hard to pull ourselves away to go down for dinner. We would like to thank Ahmet and Rim, Annabell, Kerry Ann and the team at Dionysos for a fantastic week ! We will be back!! Sue,Mick,John and Eileen.

Room Tip: The cottages are spacious and luxurious with great views and good patio furniture.

Firstly i must mention the great Exclusive Escapes without whom i would not have booked Turkey at all. I stumbled onto the web-site ( amazing ! ) and saw a holiday from a private jet terminal at Stansted. I was immediately sold.. Pitch up an hour before your flight the luggage is whisked off and a new ,smart terminal appears before you. Its heaven ! You are then treated to a 1980s flight of free drinks ,a hot meal and more than friendly staff. Believe me it puts you in a great frame of mind when you arrive. Not much to add to what has already been mentioned about the Hotel.. great food ( couldnt believe how good it was,no mezes were the same) great host ( Ahmet and wife )great infinity pool and an amazing complimentary boat trip which will be the highlight of your stay. The rooms i guess have been upgraded and looked new so why only 4 stars ? My room was 157 steps from the restaurant /bar area so do not take your 92 year old granny. You need to be reasonably fit to climb and after a few beverages could be deemed a problem. The other tiny blemish was the Sea Club which needs and upgrade although as we speak i hear a new one has been pencilled in for next year. All in all its wonderful, if you like doing nothing or close to nothing this is the place for you.I spoke to many people and for some it had been there 11th visit and most were returning guests so it gives you some idea of its beauty.I was a Turkey " rookie " but will definitely return.. awesome !

Room Tip: 1) Try to book rooms close to the bar/restaurant area. 2) When you arrive at the Sea Club go right...

We travelled using Exclusive Escapes.

The 'executive Jet' terminal at Stanstead was a great way to start you holiday; I’d highly recommend that as your starting point. (Shame UK boarder control messed that up on the return - no fault of Exclusive though).

An easy transfer on arrival, using small mini bus vehicles. Water provided by driver. A simple, but nice touch.

On arrival you're met by the owner for a welcome drink. It's probably at this point that you realise how many return visitors there are! (but onto that later)

The rooms (Doluca2) are fantastic, more like mini suites in fact. Absolutely spotless, well presented and a real pleasure to stay in.

The staff are top-notch, proven first morning at breakfast (which is ample, with plenty of choice) and all the way through our week-long stay.

A word here on the hotel liaison, Annabelle - what a lovely lady. She is omnipresent, yet can't do enough for you. Any questions answered with a sincere passion for the place.

The 'Gentlemen’s Boat' was a lovely day out. The two man crew stopped off at lovely bays (picking the quieter ones) and prepared a sumptuous lunch.

The day-trip to Marmaris was also worthwhile, if not just for the lunch at ‘pineapple’! (Tip – sit on the top deck of the boat).

The hotel and grounds are very well presented.

The bar and pool area are lovely, although there’s a certain ‘scramble’ for the best positioned sun-beds (that’s where the previous visitors have the upper hand). I must admit, I didn’t expect folks to ‘reserve’ the best beds at a resort of this kind, but hey, you live and learn.

We thought the food was ok at the hotel and notably better at the Beach Club. Expect to pay similar prices to your local gastro-pub.

The Beach Club is an interesting place to visit. As stated in hotel’s information documentation, it’s not exclusive to residents........which was amusingly proven on our visit. The sight of passengers disembarking from visiting craft, walking through the ‘private’ area and onto the restaurant terrace was, as I say, almost amusing!

The beach isn’t great. Well perhaps I expected too much, but cigarette butts and bottle tops strewn over the area didn’t appeal.

Others reviewers have referred to the ‘Country Club’ atmosphere. There is one (having played golf at many), but perhaps that’s to be expected as there are so many return visitors – a reflection of the quality of the hotel, rather than a ‘clique’ environment?

Of course, you can join in if you wish.

So would I return?

No.

Would I recommend you to go?

Yes, I would. Dionysos is a lovely place, with excellent staff, great rooms and facilities. For me, the food could’ve been better, but as I said, the two meals at the Beach Club were excellent.

The ‘Gentlemen’s Boat’ was outstanding and I’d use Exclusive Escapes again at the drop of a hat.

If you go with a group of friends and you may love it...............just book those sun-beds.

Whilst inside the spacious accomodation (Moscado 2 for us) it was just like being in a hotel room without a tv (that was not a hardship at all!) However as soon as you ventured outside - it was a different world, with all the accomodations (42 off I think) nestling on the slopes of a steep hillside with wonderful views of Kumlubuk bay.

Walking around the grounds, the staff were always friendly and polite and keen to assist with any request and the Owner and his wife were reguarly around or entertaining in their own restaurant in the evenings.

The infinity pool was one of the best I have experienced and the views of the bay - you could never tire of. Be careful if lazing on a lilo in the pool in case you rush at the infinity edge and feel the urge to be swept over the side!

We had a car for a few days and this gave us the independence to not be tied to the previously noted shuttle bus times. The Bozborun Peninsula has some varied and pretty bays and there were other small villages of interest. The steep road into the hills from the Dionysos estate gate was well worth the effort - there were bee hives amoungs the pine forests everywhere you went. Honey was on sale at many houses along all the routes. Colourful Mosques were found in many unexpected small settlements. Petrol stations were not so common, so bear this in mind.

If you want to eat at the Beach club, make sure you book well in advance - we were dissapointed to miss out. The main restaurant has a very good al a carte menu most nights, interspersed with buffets twice a week. Don't feel the need to purchase in advance the meal plans as whilst I am sure the food is dearer than in a local eatery, it was not so expensive either and if like me you prefer just two courses, then probably better to pay for what you eat.

We had two occasions to ask for some assistance with very minor issues (lack of tea bags in room was one) and each time it was sorted within 10 minutes!

Absolutely no complaints. Be aware of the steepness of the grounds if you are at all disabled/immobile.

Room Tip: Choose one lower down - nearer the pool and restaurant!

This was our third time at the hotel, although this time we only had a few days before moving on to two other exclusive escapes properties. The setting and views are fantastic, either up at the main hotel or down at the beach club, the accommodation great, the pool, the best we've been in in Turkey, and the food always good. The whole place engenders a great atmosphere with the staff and guests and we have had many had great days and evenings with people we'd not met before. Equally it's not a problem if you just want to chill out on your own with a partner. Yes there are steps, and as a confirmed exercise nut, the jogging is not the easiest (especially up the mountain), but believe me it's a small price to pay.

Room Tip: I haven't had a bad room yet.

Just returned from an amazing week away at teh Dionysos. Booked through Exclusive Escapes, exceeded our expectations in every way, it is truly a unique location with amazing views. We didn't do a huge amount apart from relax by the infinity pool by day and enjoy great food in the evening. As mentioned by a fair few reviewers, you are a captive audience so food and drink is expensive. No more than you would expect from most 5 star resorts though.

A little disappointed by the Sea Club (we're not fans of beaches anyway) but we did feel that it wasn't quite at the same standard as the main hotel - needs a bit of investment to bring it up to scratch. No bother though as we relaxed by the pool most of the time.

Many thanks for a great week.

Room Tip: Make sure you book over the phone rather than online and they will make sure you get a good room.

2nd time here, lovely rooms, food, staff and ambience. Very calming and quiet, rooms furnished to a high standard - A/C failed, and they replaced the whole unit for a new one same day. Spa excellent - all food cooked on the premises. Only downside is that with the exception of the beach club you are restricted in where you can go unless you rent a car or venture out on the local buses.

Room Tip: Rooms further back are much higher, have better views, but the steps can be a killer in 42C
