“A Good Experience at the Nazar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I stayed in the Nazar at the beginning of September with a friend. The staff were both friendly and, attentive. The room was clean, if a little basic, with choice of air conditioning at £4.00 per night which we built in to the cost of the holiday. The room also had a balcony with a pleasant outlook. It is well located in a quiet part of the resort, within easy reach of the beach, restaurants and bars.

The only comment I would make is about the towels which could have been a tad bigger and I would have preferred to have the room cleaned daily rather than every three days. However this did not detract from the overall pleasant experience of staying in this hotel.

I think it depends what you want from your holiday and for your money, for us the hotel provided a comfortable base from which to go out and explore the delights of Altinkum and I would definitely go back there.

just returned 13 sept after 2 weeks at the nazar, dont expect anything else than basic, room bottom floor was like colditz, facing barbed wire, air con was a waste of time @ £4 a day, staff were ok, ,had to ask cleaners to empty toilet bin after 3 days, dont expect clean towels unless you ask for them. i asked to keep room on with 3 different people and was quoted 3 different prices. i would not stop here again, the only good point it was in a good position. did not once see our rep .i think after 14 years in altinkum weve seen the better years.

Room Tip: it seems the top rooms at the back of hotel were the best.

Room very basic, air conditioning was £4 per night and was more like a fan they had taken the fridge out of the room so we couldnt keep any water, had to buy it from the hotel each day but on the plus side it was very clean. It was cleaned every three days and we were given fresh towels if you dont intend to spend much time in the room this is the hotel for you. The breakfast was awful but the restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were ok, helpful at times. The pool was ok but too small for the amount of guests. However the location was excellent only a 5 minute walk to the beach, shops and restauants which were all brilliant the turkish people are very friendly. By far the best restaurant 'Barneys' was right outside the hotel would recommend it to everyone wherever they stay in Altinkum the chef Memhet is amazing just like his food.

Room Tip: Make sure you check the air con works to your satifaction before paying for it. pool veiw room is b...

I have just returned from the Nazar hotel after a weeks stay. Luckily we got this as a late deal so didn't pay over the odds, if I had paid the full price I would have been fuming. Very disappointed to say its a Thomson hotel, never seen the rep once if you wanted her you had to go to another hotel as she wasn't paid to go to Nazar??

When we arrived and were given our room it was quite obvious someone had been smoking in there the smell was dreadful then I noticed the electric socket was hanging off the wall with live wires hanging out so immediately asked to change rooms which was not a problem and give them their due they did give us another room.

The second room was better and smelt clean! The beds are comfy and the room is a decent size but the bathroom is tiny, you can practically sit on the toilet and have a shower at the same time!! Shower always had hot water but you couldn't put the taps on full as it flooded the whole bathroom which was a nightmare.

We had our towels changed on our 5th day there and unless we asked the cleaners to come in they didn't bother and when they did it was a health hazard as they left the floors soaking so had to be careful you didn't slip. Take extra towels if you have enough luggage allowance as the ones provided had stains on and holes in!

The rooms are very noisy and there were a lot of people banging doors all the time, we had a front facing room and the street can be noisy too from the other bars with their music playing.

Breakfast was typical Turkish food, they do have cornflakes but the milk was awful so we just lived on toast but there are plenty of restaurants about and McDonald's and burger king if you like those. We ate at big Ben restaurant on the front...highly recommend to try this place out, their food is gorgeous and staff are always polite and helpful.

Didn't spend time round the pool as the sewerage smell was disgusting the pool was small too, where if you walk 5 minutes to the beach you can have 2beds and an umbrella for 15 lira which was well worth it, people are passing all day selling cold drinks and snacks it's bliss!! Careful of the little fishes in the sea they like to nibble on your feet!!!

If you like trips there are about 15 different boat trips go to taffys British boat!!! We went on the sunshine one and it was taken over by Turks saving sunbeds in the sun and shade then putting bags one the tables too leaving e few English on there struggling to sit or lay anywhere!! Highly recommend the jeep safari if you like a laugh and a giggle but wear old clothes and prepared to get wet!!!!

Back to the Nazar.... Although I have stated a few bad points about the hotel on a good note the hotel is ideally situated and close to pubs, restaurants the beach and shopping centre, the staff always spoke and the manager was lovely too. If you just want somewhere to put your head down and your not bothered then this is ideal at the end of the day you get what you pay for and there are far worse hotels there. Personally I wouldn't go back but if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful and you get it at a bargain price go for it!!!!

Tried to be honest as I can, hope it helps!!!!

Room Tip: If you want a double bed ask when you check in, we travelled as a married couple and were given sing...

I know it is only a 2 star hotel, but they only supplied 1 very bady stained hand towel
each, which were only changed every three days, along with the one sheet on the bed.The bin in the bathroom , for which to put toilet paper in, had no lid. When I asked for one with a lid I was told they were all the same. We had a balcony overlooking the road. Couldn't use it because of the horrible smell from the drains and the 8 overflowing dusbins nearby.
Only cereals at breakfast were cornflakes.Sadly the milk was warm. No butter for the toast, only margarine.
Couuld't use the pool or sit round it, again for the horrible smell and the loud blaring Turkish music.
Not a nice place to stay.

We stayed at Nazar July12, Its no longer apartments its just a hotel. Rooms quite a good size and the shower good with constant hot water, some rooms hot water comes from the cold tap...do try it first. Breakfast was an open buffet, very good with lots of choice...orange juice, toast, cornflakes, plus the usual turkish breakfast of eggs, tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, cucumber, meats (like spam), cake and cheese rolls. We stayed for evening meal on half board basis and the meals were very nice...soup then a choice of about 20 diff meze's and a main meal which was served to you. The pool was nice and clean, pleanty of sunbeds with a free mattress. The cleaners cleaned all the reception area very very well daily, it was lovely and clean, the reception toilets were very nice. Our room wasnt cleaned as often as maybe it should but it wasnt a big problem as we asked if we wanted it doing. The location is just a short walk from the beach and the shopping center, we have stayed here before and would stay here again. The air con is £56 for 2 weeks ( a bit more expensive than some others) but it was definately needed. Couldnt fault the staff...all of them from daytime staff to night plus the cleaners...a very pleasant stay. A basic hotel...its not the Ritz but your not paying Ritz prices. Thumbs up from our family. Outside the hotel is Barneys bar...very nice food when you do give it a try, plus you can get fresh turkish pancakes rolled in side filled with your own choice....worth coming in for.

Room Tip: The high floors on the front get very hot as no shade ,

Had a Great stay at this hotel with my husband and 3 year old son.

Very clean hotel, friendly staff, lovely big pool!

Location- directly across from shopping centre, 5mins walk to main beach/dolphin square area. Very quiet at night!

Hotel and rooms- very clean and tidy!, rooms very spacious, only bad point is bathroom very small you practically sit on toilet having a shower and the floor gets really wet!! Apart from that great rooms!

Pool- very clean, great size, plenty sun loungers for all!!

Buffet breakfast- standard Turkish breakfast, served 8am-10am. Also had cornflakes which my son was happy about.

Overall this is a great hotel, a lot nicer than I expected and one of the best I've stayed in in Altinkum. Highly recommend.

Keep up the good work Nazar hotel!
