After first visiting shortly after they had originally opened in November 2010, I was in the area and in need of a tasty dinner, so decided to see if the Frog and Kiwi was as good as the first time.
I am pleased to say I wasn't disappointed and was treated to a french onion soup that was just as tasty (and gooey with cheese!) as I remember, a beautiful main course of duck and a perfectly melty chocolate fondant for pudding. Superb all round. My friend had the venison which I tried some of and it literally melted in the mouth! All our meals were great - we enjoyed 1 started, 3 mains and 2 puddings between a party of 3.
Mangawhai is undoubtedly on the expensive side of things anyway, and you can pay $30 a main for mediocrity at the heads. I'd much rather spend my money at this fabulous restaurant and enjoy authentic, high quality food any day! Highly recommend.
