“nearly faultless”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Highly recommendable. Practically adjacent to Kew Gardens. No night-time aircraft or traffic noise. Perfect beer. Full English Breakfast outstanding. Fast free wifi. Service in bar and restaurant friendly and very fast. The only "faults" I could find were minor: room decor drab (50 shades of brown); only a duvet was provided, far too heavy for August (What strange inventions duvets are. How can one duvet be suitable for all people and all weathers?! In contrast, a sheet and two blankets offer many permutations to suit the circumstances); at dinner, the bread with the daily special soup was dry; and the beef strips alongside the daily special stir fry were very rare (I would have requested medium-well, if asked). Very good value for the location. I would certainly come again.

Room Tip: Room 304 is pleasant; top floor, high above any sounds from the bar, and faces west over Kew Green.

No nonsense little local hotel, great that it has AC (and a welcome surprise given we were there on the hottest weekend of the year so far...). The staff are fab, can't do enough to help, and the food is above average pub food, with a wide choice with something to suit everyone...would definitely recommend!

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel between 26 to 31 July, 2012. The owners, Nick and Pippa were gracious, friendly and accommodating hosts. The Management and staff were attentive and service was quick and efficient. The daily traditional English breakfast and selection of continental breakfast available was a delight and prepared with care and attention. The general ambiance and location of the hotel was excellent, away from the hustle and bustle of central London and in a generally quiet and leafy suburb; it is also conveniently situated for a short walk and visit to Kew Gardens. Public transport on the London Overground and the tube station is about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel, but a pleasant walk indeed through generally quiet and leafy residential neighbourhoods; my friend and I were fortunate that the weather was sunny throughout our visit and this made the walks that much more pleasant and refreshing. Many thanks to Pippa for your concern too when I unexpectedly encountered excrutiating pain in my right knee and you pointed me to a pharmacist in Kew Village for an immediate supply of medication. Overall, it was money well spent staying at this hotel and the warm hospitality shown to us is much appreciated; thanks very much to everyone at the hotel. Always a pleasure to return to London.

My wife and I stayed here for five nights during the Olympics. The Coach and Horses was a truly lovely place to stay. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was large and comfortable with efficient air conditioning. The shower was functioning perfectly which is not so frequent in British hotels. Breakfast was good and in some mornings my scrambled eggs was the best I have ever had.  The hotel was a good base for the Olympics with both overground and underground to choose for travel. If you don't want to take about ten minutes walk to Kew Gardens station, you can jump in a bus that takes you in a few minutes to Richmond station. In addition to the Olympics, we spent some time in the beautiful Kew Gardens. Strolling in the Kew Gardens was really nice and we want to have more of it. We will be back and stay in the Coach and Horses.

Stayed for one night. Room very comfortable, clean and of a decent standard. Efficent air con. Excellent free parking

Breakfast was very good and the waitress was stunning!

When i checked in it seemed i was an inconvience to the guy on reception and althought the check out was smooth I did note an older lady behind the recptionist who i felt was particuarly rude and unhelpful to an overseas guest who was asking a straight forward question.

Overall a decent place to stay in a very pleasant area.

Spooky footnote; I have been told the last time i visited this pub was 33 years ago TO THE DAY for a friends stag night!!!

My husband and I stayed here at the end of last week as a base for getting into London for the Olympics. It was a lovely to place to stay, clean and comfortable, good food and extremely helpful pleasant staff. Really close to the railway station for easy access to London. Also close to the river Thames for a relaxing stroll in the evening to help wind down. Would definitely recommend the Coach and Horses and would definitely stay here again! The close proximity to the famous Kew Gardens is something that would tempt me back!
