If you're using the M3 and you're feeling peckish, pull off at the Hook junction (J5) and drive into Odiham High Street - only 5 minutes off the motorway and a good choice of restaurants and pubs and hotels and shops full of things you never dreamed you wanted (and probably never did). Much better than the services nearby, but a bit pricier.
El Costello looked nice in the evening - warm and inviting, but a bit bare - wooden floors, hard chairs in true bistro fashion.
A big menu, typically italian and I chose the Paella (the straying from the Italian cuisine happens again with moussaka sitting next to the lasagne - so if it looks like risotto or lasagne, it is presumably OK for an Italian to try his hand at it. And this paella/seafood risotto was very good.
I was in a hurry, so this was all I had, with a glass of house red - very peppery and most acceptable. A big cup of house coffee to finish and all for £21 including tip.
Friendly service, nice customers, no straying children and clean loos.
Beats the M3 services every time!
