“Improved since our last visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We first visited the Waterwitch on a hot Saturday afternoon in the summer of 2012 and we were not impressed. It took half an hour to order a drink from the bar as they did not have a separate food queue. We then decided to order something to eat, but almost everything on the menu seemed to be sold out! The cleanliness was also not great.

We recently visited again and I'm pleased to say it was a completely different experience. Despite the fact we had not booked and the restaurant was busy, they still managed to sit us straight away. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent.

The restaurant manager/landlady was also wandering around the restaurant chatting to customers which was a nice touch. We will definitely visit again!

“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Meeting with friends for a walk on a Sunday afternoon and wanted a convenient pub resturant for an evening meal. After reading the reviews there were a few options in Odiham and as we were parked nearby chose the Waterwitch. I'm wary of large chain pubs but they seem to have something pleasant set up here. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was typical for this type of venue but well prepared and presented. We had just a maincourse, wine and beer and the bill was reasonable for a casual evening out. Doombar on tap a big bonus.

“visited for a drink”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

went here this evening for a drink. the place looks alright inside, but all the tables are taken up for eating, we walked through the whole pub to find a table with nothing on it but couldn't, so just sat at a table at the back and hoped it hadn't been reserved. staff seemed friendly, but one of the waitresses could do with putting some clothes on! skirt/shorts what ever she was wearing....might as well not been wearing it, not really something you want to see when serving people thank you very much. got our drinks quite quickly. don't think we would ever stay for food as on the board it was 13.50 for a salad!

came for a drink the week before as well and sat in the garden nearest the canal, though when the sun went down it became pitch black....some lighting maybe??? couldn't see anything until we were right by the building.

don't think its a terrible place for a drink but no way would we eat here, with the prices and other reviews.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Well I would like to report a lovely visit to The Waterwitch today . Pleasant welcoming staff and tasty food. My husband and I shared a starter of baked Camebert with crusty bread and deep fried red oinions. Yummy and then salmon Nicoise . Delicious!!! Malc had chicken ceasar salad plus treacle pudding for afters. We will return. Thanks

“Gone downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

I reviewed The Waterwitch favourably about 18 months ago and we have continued eating there from time to time but yesterday evenings experience has prompted me to modify my opinion. The restaurant was not busy and four of us ordered food and drinks. The food was really not up to a reasonable standard and the service was similar. The fish pie was overpriced and really not very nice and complaining brought a disinterested "sorry" and no action. Ice cream for dessert is presented in a small teacup and saucer and while quite nice did not represent value in either quantity or presentation. The Waterwitch now seems to be run by a bunch of youngsters enjoying social time with their friends and working off their own casual agendas which do not include any concern for customer satisfaction. In this market there are establishments offering great value food in pleasant surroundings served by enthusiastic people (Take a pat on the back Cart and Horses Kingsworthy) so we will not be visiting The Waterwitch again.
