We had a lovely experience dining at Meads recently. Everything was perfect right from the moment we were picked up from our hotel until we were dropped back feeling full and satisfied. We started the meal with garlic bread, which was delicious. Not like the stale bread version usually served up in Bali but a true crisp and tasty version. My entrée was the fresh tuna and avocado sashimi salad. It was beautiful and refreshing. My only complaint was that the serving was quite large, but I couldn’t stop eating! I am a taster so usually make sure I sample everyone else’s dishes. The oysters Kilpatrick were as good as I have tried anywhere.
For mains, the kids tried the burger and Australian beef pie. Both were thoroughly enjoyed, the only comments from my teenage son between bites was – yum! Meads has a pool table which is a great way to amuse the kids between courses, allowing the adults to enjoy a little peace and quiet and truly savour the meal.
My husband’s ribs were wonderful. He loves ribs but had a terrible dish at another restaurant a few nights earlier. It was a very brave choice of his as he really was put off ribs after his earlier experience. After Meads ribs, he has now fallen in love all over again. My red emperor was perfectly cooked and the black tom mash – heavenly. Not to mention the grilled fresh asparagus.
The kids managed dessert but I cannot remember what they had. I was so stuffed I had stopped tasting by this stage, but I do know that they enjoyed it.
In summary, all dishes were prepared with wonderful fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The wine list is also adequate with choices to suit every budget. This had to be one of the best meals we have ever had, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The pickup and drop off service was an added bonus.
