Service usually can't go wrong in an Australian operated restaurant! Alfie welcomed us with open arms when we arrived around 8pm. The staffs were all very friendly and attentive. It was a Tuesday hence restaurant was quite quiet with only 2 small groups chilling out and left shortly after we arrive.
Before arriving in Bali, I have already emailed to make reservation as well as a surprise arrangement for a birthday cake. Alfie was already very friendly in the email.
The restaurant is alfresco and has a very laidback atmosphere. Its definitely a nice place to end a long day of sightseeing across Bali. While waiting for the food, we actually have a couple of games at the pool table which is right in the middle of the restaurant and we enjoyed the laughing over our bad skills. It was really very enjoyable and relaxing since we were the only ones around. But if it is crowded, I don't think we will play.
The food were generally very tasty with big portion. However, 4 of us were very disappintment with our overcooked steaks. To be frank, the seasoning of the meat were good but the overcooked meat were too tough, chewy and dry to be appreciated. Did feedback to Alfie and he immediately apologised and offered to change it for us. However, we do not like wasting food and were also too hungry to wait longer hence we rejected his offer and continued with what we have. This was the only negative in what had been a meal of complete positives. Nevertheless, Alfie did gave us a small discount for the steaks as compensation.
After we finished the meal, Alfie and team came out with the surprise cake for our Birthday gal and we all sang the song together. Its was a joyous celebration.
If we ever returned to Bali, we would probably drop by for another meal and I will definitely request Alfie to oversee the cooking of my steak. =)
The price can be found online if you are cost conscious. In all, this was the most expensive meal we had in Bali. But for the quality and type of food, Meads is definitely worth a visit. It may be expensive by Bali standard but if compared to Australia and Singapore standard, it is still cheaper.
To Alfie & team - Thanks for the photos and great service! Cheers!
