“great service and really a gem in TB”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

i stayed at their bamboo pondok during 12June-14June,very cute pondok with a veranda, there is no pool here, just have a small garden, but it is ok,because found no time to soak into the pool.Pondok Agung Homestay offers very good accommodation for budget traveller, and staffs are friendly and honest,i was impressed by Susi, she offered very good service,if Pondok Agung is a gem in Nusa Dua/tanjung Benoa, then Susi really a gem in Pondok Agung, the owner should treasure her, very enthusiastic and honest, a real Balinese!Pondok Agung doesnt offer free breakfast, they once did have a cute Japanese Warung, but it closed already, regret! If you want to have breakfast they offer limited menu here,of course at very reasonable price.Bamboo and Lotus pondok located beside a small alley, sometimes motorcycles pass by,so for those who are a light sleeper, better choose other pondok(for me is alright,no problem)

This place is great. It is a home stay but only because of the the staff. The hotel is very personal. Great location across the road from the beach. Dont worry that it has no pool because directly across the road is a beautiful resturant that has an amazing pool right on the beach. If you buy a coffee then you can use the pool there. The rooms are all nice. Hot showers TV very clean and tidy.
well priced for what you get. Ask for Susy... She it the best. Oh and beautiful gardens. Love it.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice. But there is a little lane next to the hotel and sometimes bikes use it. Stay on...

The room was just amazing. Clean, full of light, quiet, beautiful garden outside, and little waterfall to wake us up in the morning. We spend nearly three weeks even if we were supposed to stay there only two nights.
The service was always very good, all staff was very kind, gentle, with a big smile.
The hotel is surrounded by big expensive resorts, but nearby you have the possibility to walk to the village where you can fell the Balinese real life.
We loved to wake up with the Gayatri mantra that was playing softly everyday from the village big speakers.
Nice breakfast was served in the garden.
We would come again to Pondok Agung if we came back to Bali.
Thank you sooooo much, it was a sweet experience!

Room Tip: Room 3 in the Lotus bungalow was fantastic

Excellent value, very clean, peaceful, friendly staff . We will go back. This was a fill in before our major resort. We have been caught out before on Internet bookings, not this time , a hidden treasure for the more senior traveller who do not want the hustle and bustle

This small hotel, 100 meters away from the beach, is really the best value I could imagine in this area. Large room with a very clean bathroom, on the first floor of a bungalow, we had our children just a communicating door away. Nice and large balcony.
The owner is a swiss and indonesian couple. They are proved to be not just nice and customer oriented, but really helpful and warm people : my wife had a peak of fever, and Roland, the swiss man, speaks Indonesian, (and english, and German) and French went with us to the local clinic (witch has proved to be a new and modern clinic with competent and dedicated people inside...) !
Looking around Pondok Agung there are very expensive resorts, or charmless hotel buildings. So, here on more proof of our luck of having choosen Pondok Agung !

Room Tip: We had a good time on the above room of the bungalow. The breakfast is taken in a nice garden, next...

It's owned by a Swiss guy and it does look very clean and organized at first glance. Our friend stayed there for two weeks and enjoyed it a lot partly because he made friends with the staff. Yet, we got a somewhat different treatment from him. Our friend paid 200,000 for a top-notch room, yet we paid 300,000 for a room that had an ancient tv with only indonesian channels and smelled terribly of mould. The initial reservation that our friend made was neglected as a couple of backpackers walked in and got the room before we showed up. Our towels and bedsheets weren't changed in two days. A book that I left on the sun chair outside was left discarded on the ground some four meters away. And there were some other little things that did spoil it for us. The owner wasn't there the whole time, so I guess his local staff decided to take it easy. To be fair, there was this nice lady that worked there, Suzy, she was very helpful to organize other accommodations, a bike and internet. So it wasn't that bad. Either way, we stayed two nights and were happy to move.

Dear Misha T,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad that you appreciated the cleanliness of our property.

In regards to the different prices – your friend was staying with us for 3 weeks before you arrive and at that time your friend booked the room with the rate at Rp.200.000 and 3 days before his departure, that room was already book by someone else. Therefore, we need to move your friend to another room. Because he was one of our long stay guests, we decided to give him a better room with the same rate. Please be informed that this decision is taken by me as the owner and it is not our staff decision.

For your reservation there were a misunderstanding with your friend, because he had never confirm your booking with us. He mention only that you will come to see the room first.

We are trying our best to be as green as possible by encouraging guest not to change towels every day, and it is clearly stated in the room that guest have the choice to change the towel whenever they wish.
Moreover with the rate that we ask our guest to pay (USD 35 per day) it is nearly impossible for us to change the bed sheet every day. Our policy is to change every 3 days.

Once again we appreciate the time you have given to write us constructive criticism. Shall you need to have further information, feel free to drop me an email at: -------------

We hope to see you again on your next visit to Bali.
With Best regards

Agung Ronald Favre

This is a hidden treasure in Tanjung Benoa. Beautiful clean rooms with Ceiling Fans, Air Con, Rooms Safe and free Wi Fi. There is no swimming pool, but the beach and a multitude of water sports are just across the road, and less than 100m up the road there is a public pool that overlooks the beach. The pool is hardly used and 90% of the time you have it to yourself. Would definitely recommend this homestay as great value for money. Breakfast which is included in the price is served in a beautiful garden setting.
