“Good for a stopover or for few days, good service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

The hotel is up a steep vehicle climb from Barog road and has a great view and enjoys peace and quiet. The rooms are not very luxurious but comfortable. The servicebis good, as it is not too crowded and one can get undivided attention. Facilities are basic; while the sheets look clean, you may want to carry your own towel.

Hotel is on the top of the hill. Its an excellent property but very badly managed. They have excellent views from some of the rooms. The food is bad and cleanliness is zero. There were bed bugs and small insects in the room. The staff looks underpaid, their hospitality is average, infact I was on a business trip for 3 days and on the 2nd night they suddenly surprised us by telling us that we needed to check out the next morning, they refused to acknowledge our 3 day's booking and after much argument we got some higher rate rooms. Later, we discovered, they were expecting a big group for few days and that was the reason they wanted us out! Though our trip extended, we checked out and stayed in a much better hotel for next 5 days.
To sum up, if its a holiday where you are in a relaxed mood and happy with average meal and service and want to have a drink enjoying the peace(if there are no other noise making groups) and stars, go for it.
They arrange for the bon fire if you are in a group.
Rates are not too bad. Beware of monkeys though.

Room Tip: Choose the family rooms with terrace or valley view on first floor.

We were on a drive towards the hills to celebrate my birthday. We thought of stopping by at Barog Heights.

The first thing you'll love is the steep slope that you have to drive through to reach the spot. It is at an amazing height. Turn off your AC and take off some load if you have a weak car.

When we reached, we were welcomed by an amazing view accompanied by silence. As it was the middle of the week, there weren't many guests. We order for some drinks, pakodas and kuchumber salad. Everything was in order and prepared fresh.

We also inquired about the room rates which start from INR 3,500, however we did not stay there.

We stayed in this hotel for a night. The location of the place is very good. You can have a 360 view from this place. We enjoyed our sunrise and sunset and the night view of the Solan and Kausali from this place.

The receptionist were very nice and courteous. I had an minor accident and had some problem with our bike and they helped us out to the maximum.

The room quality is good, you get basic amenities of TV, very good bedding, hot shower and a good view of the outside. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. I feel the room rent was reasonable.

There is a place for kids to play with video games, table tennis and other indoor games.

Food is good, but expensive that's my only complaint. You can enjoy the food outside.

Overall we had a very good experience in Barog heights and I recommend it to anyone going to Barog, Solan or Kasauli.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view and insist for the top floor.

We stayed Hotel Barog Heights on 1st June 2012. We reached there at 5.30 pm. First impression of the hotel and the location is WoW from the parking.

The rooms in the hotel are not wow but ok. Furniture needs revamping. The room carpets are old and look dirty. Ask for the rooms with terrace as it gives wonderful views. Few of the deluxe rooms have better terraces than the super deluxe ones / suits. Management is good, waiters are humble and the service is good.

The food is on the expensive side. An Aloo Parantha plate with 2 paranthas cost Rs 120.00. A tea costs Rs. 50.00. So calculate your budget before ordering. Would suggest to avoid non-veg as it never tasted like authentic and is very costly but veg food is good. Overall a good place for a short stay.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with terrace. They have huge terrace rooms even in the deluxe catagory.

It's quite expensive here and the rooms are not that luxury. Even we are paying more money but we can't get that value. The room was just fine and the quilts are so dirty. I had skin allergy. The room services are nice. The food here was nice as well. But the electricity here is not convenient, always no power, but this hotel got back-up, so we had a "safe" nights. Be careful with the monkeys, they are really brave that they can even attack you when you open the window. Something is making noisy upstairs like rats. Driving from the highway to the hotel is kind of adventure. Actually a big torture to the car. But the view was really nice. You can see the amazing scenery and feel the feeling of living on the top of the world. Overall the price is not that reasonable. But no other option if you see the hotels nearby.

Room Tip: Be careful with with the stupid monkeys.

I went to hotel barog height for weekend gateway with my family. To start with, hotel is perched at the top of a hill and road to the hotel is v.steep and you need to drive extremely carefully or better ask hotel driver to come and take your vehicle to hotel if you're not a frequent driver in hills . Hotel is quite spacious and has got a huge lobby. Rooms are also quite cozy n spacious but not that well maintained. Room service definitely needs improvement.

We reached the hotel at around noon, and after resting down in the room, we're quite unsure as if we had made the right choice as there was nothing much to do in the resort and there are no nearby areas to visit as well. But, come evening, and your review about the place changes dramatically. It has got double storeyed nice terraces and the view from there is amazing. Since, its perched at the top of the hill, this place is generally much colder than barog in itself. Hotel as such does not have much to offer but if you're a nature lover n want to amalgamate with nature, this is the best place. It has got a small garden as well with some swings. Food is very good.
To conclude, this hotel is all its worth just because of the double storeyed terrace and garden outside. You would spend most of your time sitting here only reading books, chatting, just relaxing or having your tea or food here. While sitting at the top terrace, it gives you a feeling that you're sitting at the highest peak of the mountains. Definitely worth a one time visit or it might become your regular weekend gateway as well
