“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Marulivo is a superbly run hotel with absolutely charming owners whose stated aim is to make you feel at home. They achieve this in some style. Their stylishness is everywhere; the rooms are understated but very comfortable with very nice bed linen and excellent bathrooms. The terrace where breakfast and evening drinks are served has the most stunning views of the harbour and surrounding countryside. Breakfast is quite simply a joy, the naughtiest yogurt you have ever tasted with copious amounts of fruit, cheese and ham. All served by the very capable Ola who has been with the owners Lea and Massimo for seven years...can't say I blame her.

Just a wonderful place in an old convent high in the hills in a village called Pisciotta, not in the Marina, as stated in the trip advisor address.

Excellent rooms, wonderful hosts and a lovely terrace for breakfast and wining.

Well worth a visit near to great beaches and scenery.

Room Tip: Try one near the garden area as there are seats there, or a junior suite.

A large group assembled in Pisciotta for a celebration - those staying in the hotel were happy - those of us who booked the apartments less so. We had Topazio - it is over 3 storeys and does have a kitchen, a view and bedroom - and a tricky staircase! Ground floor bathroom features a great showerhead that delivers a dribble. Bath soap etc not provided and toilet paper in short supply. The kitchen had some very basic equipment but anything else required a shopping trip - the ceiling height was a challenge for anyone over 5'11'. The bed was hard and lumpy as were the two pillows, and the linen was poor quality, musty and a scary pattern (orange & yellow sunflowers) - I'd chuck it all away and start again - somewhere comfortable to sit would have also been handy as neither the apartment nor the hotel public areas had anywhere to lounge comfortably on a drab day. The balcony overlooked a narrow lane & could fit two people standing. No sign of a heater and ceiling fan that clanked - but the bathroom did have a fine hairdryer. The hotel has wifi - the apartments don't. Topazio also lacked TV/radio/sound system. The apartment was brightly painted but staying there was depressing. The hotel was booked out so we were stuck.

The owners of the Mariluvo were very helpful and the food/hospitality at nearby Per Bacco was terrific as was the place recommended near the marina. We also dined simply and quite well at Tre Gufi beside the hotel.

Room Tip: Skip the apartments and head to a suite at the hotel!

We arrived in the medieval town of Pisciotta for our 2 night stay. We'd called beforehand and spoken to Lea for directions. There is no parking on-site so we followed her directions to the town square where we parked our car temporarily whilst we checked in and dropped off our bags. Lea came out to meet us at the square to show us the way to the hotel. There is a free and safe car park at the edge of the town, which is only a 5 minute walk away and we left our car there for the duration of our stay.

The town itself is delightfully traffic free and is perched high on the hilltop. We walked down through the town and the groves down to the marina to have lunch at Casa Angiolino by the seafront. We also walked (hiked!) back up after lunch, which was much more challenging but manageable, possibly thanks to the bottle of wine at lunch.

We stayed in a superior room which had a small balcony with views down to the Pisciotta marina. The room was a good size and very comfortable. We had two good nights' sleep here as the town is quiet after dark. There are only two minor areas we think could be improved slightly - the TV sound would cut in and out (no need for TV really but we sometimes liked to use it during siesta) and the bed sheets could be better quality. Neither of these detracted from our enjoyable stay here.

Just outside our room was the terrace where breakfast was served when the weather was good. There was also a breakfast room for rainy days. Breakfast was simple, delicious and typically Italian. Good coffee, a selection of teas, juice, pastries and yoghurt. The terrace also housed a bar which was open throughout the day and a lovely place to enjoy a drink in the evenings.

Lea and Massimo own and run the place, and are very welcoming and helpful hosts. Lea organised a restaurant booking for us and gave us walking instructions for the town. I believe they can also organise tours to sights in the area. When I expressed an interest in the regional olive oil that we'd had at dinner, Lea told me about her family's olive groves and when she told me they sold the oil at the hotel, I bought her last bottle and are thoroughly enjoying it back in London.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Hotel Marulivo and look forward to returning one day.

I visit the village of Pisciotta almost every summer due to it being my 2nd family home, all my visits to the Marulivo previously were purely for a pre dinner drink or 2 and to soak up the spectacular views on their terrace. It truly is amazing so make sure you are there ready with your camera. This April 2013, my boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights whilst organising our wedding, and the owners lea & Massimo were as welcoming and helpful as ever. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to hide out for a couple of days in a very sleepy village, that surprisingly seems to becoming very popular with the tourists.

After many visits to the fantastic terrace of the Marulivo hotel for evening drinks whilst staying at the family home in Pisciotta, we found it necessary to stay there for two nights in April this year, 2013.

The hotel proprietors were as we had found them as bar-guests before very welcoming and friendly with nothing too much trouble. The weather wasn't great but the welcome was and the 2 night stay was perfect.

I have to give credit where due but by doing so, I'm afraid that too many more tourists may find out about this gem of the Italian Mediterranean coastline!!!

Thank you L & M for a wonderful stay!!

We were here just for 1 night in early October and we loved it. It was hot that day so after checking in, we walked down, down, down the hill to swim at the beach. Very fun. It was a bit of a climb back up, but worth it.

We arrived back just in time for wine on the terrace at sunset. The view really is stunning - the photos are accurate. Later we wandered off to the recommended restaurant for a really delicious (and affordable) dinner.

The location really is superb. After we figured out that we had to park in the little lot on the edge of town, we wandered through little medieval walkways following signs to the hotel. It's on the edge of town with gorgeous views. The whole area is amazing and we'd love to go back.
