My husband and I flew to Geneva on Valentine's Day and then continued our break in the French Alps. We took a taxi for the journey to the chalet which was just over an hour. The chalet itself has got to be in one of the most incredible settings that I have ever been. Nestled on the mountain side, with snowy mountain peaks all around, it really will take your breath away! My husband and I went here for the walking and we were delighted with what the area has to offer. Chalet La Tassonniere is a great base for everything. A 5 minute walk from the remains of Abbey d'Aulps and set at the base of what's locally known as the 'elephant's head' (a huge rock formation that really does look like one). Every window that you look of from the chalet has a fantastic view. The rooms themselves are really warm and cosy. Our bathroom had a very welcome power shower, just what you want after a hike in the mountains!
The hospitality from the owners, Steve and Corina, is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble, it doesn't matter what your needs are, they will be catered for! Fresh eggs every morning from their chickens for breakfast, croissants, juice and coffee set us up for each day. We just let them know the time that we wanted to eat. It was all very relaxed and friendly. Steve directed us on our walks as he has extensive knowledge of the surrounding area's. We even missed our connecting bus one day up to the ski slopes, Steve then drove us up there!
We really enjoyed our stay here and are looking forward to going back next year with our three children.
