We stayed in the Waterbury Guesthouse over New Year in 2007. I had a good feeling about the Waterbury from the moment we arrived (could have been the complimentary whiskey) and we were made to feel completely at home. The owners, David & Jayne, were available whenever we needed help, be that explaining what pubs to visit, sights to see or interesting walks within the area. The rooms were spacious and spotless and the lounge area with its fire was a godsend after a day out and about in the Scottish winter. The high point has to be the food. David & Jayne take great pride in sourcing local produce which was then cooked to perfection. From the full Scottish breakfasts, to local smoked salmon, to Chicken Breasts stuffed with haggis, they didn't put a foot wrong. On top of all this David & Jayne were cracking company and were a major part of what was a great New Year celebration. I can't recommend Waterbury highly enough.
