“Friendly & Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We stayed at Sunset Beach Studios for three weeks in November 2013. It was wonderful to stay at a place where the staff and owners were friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcomed throughout our stay. The studio units would fall into the category of "value" accommodation and our rating is based on that premise (this is not the Ritz-Carlton... it's just down the road at ten times the price!). We stayed in Garden 3 and it was comfortable, clean, and equipped with the basics to cook some of our own meals when we chose to do so. The complex itself was nicely laid out with a small swimming pool and hot tub. The the covered seating area was a great place to relax in the shade and feel the Aruba breezes. The complex is nicely decorated with numerous trinkets and extensive vegetation. There are only 13 units and the Studio's clearly appeal to people who want a quiet relaxing vacation away from the crowds of the high rise area. A car is almost necessary, since the location is some distance away from restaurants and services. One opportunity for improvement would be to upgrade the grills and some of the kitchen appliances (toaster, frying pans, etc....), since they have clearly seen better days.
Overall, this was a great place to stay and we would have no hesitations to stay here again.

The room was very Beautiful and the attention was excellent. All very clean and very nice. I loved it. The only detail is with public transport that sometimes don't go all the way to Malmok, but beside that everything was wonderful.

We stayed at the Sunset Beach Villas in 2011 and again in November 2013, These units are very affordable as we stayed in two of the units with ocean views and spent less than $1000 for a week. The units do have old hot plates for cooking, but we mostly enjoyed the outdoor grills to cook our dinners. The Large Ocean View is the only unit with an oven and stove because it was the original kitchen in the house which has been converted into units. The service is impeccable here - if you need anything, all you need to do is ask. We asked for an iron and blender and had them within 5 minutes of our request. This place is not the Ritz, so if you are looking for upscale hotel rooms, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for clean units, friendly staff and a great location, this is the place for you. We loved that these units are minutes away from Arashi beach, Boca Catalina (the best snorkelling location) and the high rise shopping strip by car. Sunset offers quiet, well-maintained units with a small pool to cool off, hot tub and lovely palapa to enjoy in the evening. The owner has 3 other large homes to rent if you have a large family or several couples want to share. Thanks JP and Eve for welcoming us back with open arms! We hope to return to Aruba again and would stay at Sunset.

Room Tip: If you need a full kitchen, select the Large Ocean View unit.

Awesome stay and best vacation ever! We stayed for 7 wonderful nights and booked for next year on the day we left. Perfect location and spectacular sunset views. Room was well appointed and squeaky clean. Staff was friendly and owners are hands on and treated us like family. Pool and hot tub were perfect and the location lends you to every available venue on this wonderful island.from off roading to romantic dinners, it is all here.

Room Tip: Book early!!!

From the minute we arrived the staff made you feel right at home. Anything we needed they helped with including the car rental.
The room was excellent! It was clean and well appointed.
The thing that I liked most was that it wasn't just another high rise hotel room. The details were perfect from the pictures and signs to the fresh plants and flowers. The location is perfect. Right near the best snorkeling beaches and easy access to the hotels and restaurants.
We can't wait to return next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in Ocean view 1 it had the best view.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the location the second we pulled into the parking lot. It is passed the high and low rise hotel areas and down the main road on a very quite and lovely stretch. There is a bus stop out front but we rented a car as it was easier to get around. The beach is directly in front of the complex and all you have to do is cross the street and you are at the waters edge. There is no beach here but snorkeling the shipwreck was awesome. It was a little tricky to get out to the wreck as the water is very shallow for a good bit of the way out and it is very rocky. But once you got passed that it was a leisurely swim out. The wreck was really cool and there were tons of fish swimming all around it. The grounds of the Studios are beautiful. The natural landscaping camouflages the building making it feel so serene and private. We stayed in Garden 8. I believe this is one of the smaller rooms in the main building but that didn't matter to us. It was cozy, comfy, well stocked and perfectly clean. This room does not have an ocean view but the deck does and the view of the sea and sunsets were perfect. The staff is great and they are genuinely friendly people. JP (the owner) was around usually daily and stopped every time he saw us to chat. The office staff were also extremely friendly and helpful and will tell you everything there is to know. Beach towels are supplied, you can rent a beach chair all day for $5 and the pool is open all night, as long as you are quite. If you are looking for quite, intimate and away from the hustle and bustle, look no further. Stay here! Thanks for helping us fall in love with Aruba! We'll be back :)

Room Tip: If you want a direct view of the ocean from your room, stay in the oceanfront rooms. Garden rooms ar...
