My first visit was with friends - 3 adults and 3 children, for breakfast. The place was buzzing. As soon as we walked in, we were shown to a table and the children were brought by a lovely lady to an area where there was a play kitchen - they loved it! There was a sense that children were very welcome indeed and a great fuss was made of taking their order - they were even better behaved than usual, probably because they were treated like they were special - genius!
Breakfast was amazing and even catered for my Slimming World 'special' needs - quorn sausages available - how often does that happen?!
My second visit was solo. Diet gone - again. I 'needed' a latte and 'something nice' ....and peace. When I looked for a quiet corner, the loveliest lady showed me upstairs to the quaintest corner, overlooking Moira Main Street. She looked after me so well - brought up a fabulous latte and brownie to die for - and the newspaper! Then showed me where she'd be standing downstairs, if I needed a refill - all I had to do was wave. Only in Moira - only in The Fat Gherkin!
I love that place. I travel all over the country on business and I have a few 'special' places to which I like to return over and over. The Fat Gherkin is on that short list - and it is short - the places on that list are very special indeed!
