“Worth a stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

good value, husband and wife business, light meals seemed good value. I caught them late in the day and although hubby seemed keen to encourage me along, the wife made it clear I could take my time and relax. Good location and large car park.

“An absolutely excellent meal stop.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We were travelling from Fort William to Inverness and were feeling quite hungry. There were virtually no places to eat and we were feeling disappointed when we came upon The Thistle Stop.
This restaurant is extremely well run and presented and the food and service was excellent. We highly recommend this establishment to all.

“Friendly and accommodating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I spent a week in Ft Augustus and we passed the Thistle Stop several times on our day trip journeys to explore the Highlands. The owner was extremely welcoming and was happy to suggest modifications to menu items to suit my wife's dietary requirements (no dairy). The food was tasty and the view from the deck on the sunny afternoon was scenic. All-in-all, a good choice for a quick, reasonably-priced meal.

“Worth 400 mile journey just for the Bacon & Lentil Soup”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We have travelled up to this area for the past 17 years. Julie and Patrick are very welcoming, with Julie front-of-house and Patrick cooking up a storm in the kitchen. It's worth the 400 mile journey just for the bacon & lentil soup, but the cakes, puddings and 'specials' are all wonderful too. The prices are good and more reasonable than many places in nearby Fort Augustus and in the surrounding area. Really, you must call in!

“Don't miss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

There are signs before this cafe on each side of it on the highway, because you could miss it , but don't , the food is fabulous and it is set back off the road so plenty of parking in front. You may eat inside or out on the verandah to watch the passing parade. Has a small but nice souvenir section as well. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
