“Dont bother eating here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

A very pleasant location but a rather dated guesthouse and atmosphere. We stayed in a room at the top of the house but unfortunately the shower pressure could not reach that high and resulted in a dribble from the shower head that was in a rather unpleasant peach coloured very dated bathroom.
We stayed for the evening meal (I wish we hadn't) along with other guests but do not eat here if you prefer fresh ingredients, there are none included in this restaurant, tinned veg, packet meals and eaten with the microwave pinging in the kitchen at various intervals.

We stayed at Parva Farmhouse with a group of friends (took the place over actually which meant we didn't disturb anyone else !). There was nothing I could find fault with. We stayed in room 5 and the shower was plenty hot enough and enough pressure. The place is spotless, the food was excellent and the breakfast was equally good providing plenty of choice. The hosts Peter and Angela were friendly, down to earth and welcoming. I must mention Frodo the dog who adds that little extra touch of 'home from home'. The decor isn't modern but it is in keeping with the property and overall the facilities are exactly what you would want from a B&B. TV in our room and Tea and Coffee tray with big mugs rather than silly little cups you can hardly get anything in. Location is great and views from some of the rooms are stunning. Great location to go walking from and the hosts can provide extra local knowledge. Several pubs and hotels in the area serving lunches. We'll definitely return.

This farmhouse is in a cluster of small buildings along the main road which follows the bend in the river. It is a traditional farmhouse with a reasonable amount of character and we stayed in an upstairs room with a dormer window overlooking the river (with the carpark and boat ramp in the foreground, and the English countryside across the river). There is a private off street carpark by the riverside. The room was, as expected, not large, and the eccentric Welsh plumbing was again prominent in the shower which produced a minimal flow of water.
The farmhouse serves dinner in a dining room, and there is a self service honesty bar in the cosy lounge, from which guests are summoned for their meal. Dinner is agreeable but one problem I had was with the music - forgive me proprietors but I found it rather tacky and as such it needed to be much softer, or even better, replaced with something more appealing.
The farmhouse is not within sight of Tintern Abbey and takes a good twenty minutes walk to get there - a pleasant enough walk along the river if the the weather and one's legs are good. The Abbey itself is of course to die for.

My husband & I stayed here for 1 night, primarily to have easy access for a visit to Tintern Abbey. Our room was of a reasonable size with a spacious bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, which could have done with better pressure. The floorboards in the bedroom squeaked which was a little annoying. We had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner in the restaurant, sharing a chicken pate for entrée and then both of us having a vegetarian main course. Both meals were very good and we finished the night sharing the trio of tartlets (lemon, chocolate and apple) served with ice cream. Breakfast the next morning was just as good as dinner, with a good selection of cereals and juice followed by a hot breakfast cooked to order. In the afternoon we walked to the abbey, an easy 15-minutes along the road and the following morning we also took a very pleasant walk along the river. Despite our room not being perfect, I would still recommended staying at Parva Farmhouse.

The welcoming and helpful owners made the stay very pleasurable and they served excellent home-cooked breakfasts. The quaint rooms were spotless and it has a lovely bar / lounge area downstairs. The guesthouse was in an excellect location, minutes away from the beautiful Tintern Abbey and with very good access to walks, historic castles and decent-sized towns.

Have been in Parva Guesthouse during a night only, and I most confess that is not my cup of tea. But I don't want to be unfair. Is a beautiful place with an amazing view. The owners are really nice people. If you want to relax only is a perfect place to stay. However if you are a young person full of energy will be a bit boring since is nothing to do around. You are 5 minutes driving away from Tintern Abbey, one of the most beautiful places I have been (I did travelled a lot, believe me).

We're just back from 2 days at the Parva - excellent ! Would recommend it to anyone who would like a nice relaxing and tranquil break. Our host, Peter, was extremely helpful without being intrusive, and Angella's food was delicious too. Certainly going back.

Room Tip: Room 5 has a lovely view over the river and surrounding countryside
