Brilliant food! Great service! Awesome vibe! Not a place for children unless you can control them please, don't want to disturb others. Its a fine dining restaurant not a play group! And please if you go, tip the waitrons well they really do go out their way for you! 10% or more nothing less! You want to be spoilt, go to Bazarutos! Ask for Shaun, Claire, Chevonne or Cath- for best service!

“L.M. Lament”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Bazaruto's has established itself over the years as a reliable restaurant offering Portuguese/Mozambiquean fare . Our visit one recent Saturday evening proved to be a big disappointment. While the laid-back family ambience is usually fine, our evening saw diners forced to suffer the over-loud shrieks of young children running about the room, unsupervised by their inconsiderate, doting parents. The service proved to be equally slack and our order for 4 meals took almost an hour before the dishes appeared. The one vegetarian order took a further 5 minutes to appear (how long can it take to prepare a limited range of cooked vegetables?), rather than serving all diners at the same time.
The acid test for any Portuguese restaurant is the chicken peri-peri dish. My chicken was runty, tasteless and the peri-peri sauce did little to enhance the flavour. There are a number of restaurants in the greater Durban area serving superior versions of this dish. The prawn dish ordered was better-received. When we asked for expresso at the end of the meal we were told that the restaurant did not have the facilities to brew the beverage, a strange omission for any functioning restaurant. Sadly, Bazaruto's is no longer on the list of venues we would choose for further nights out.
