“Spoilt....from start to finish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

My husband booked the cottage via booking.com when friends aranged the yearly meet up in Piddy. We arrived earlier than antipated due to clear roads, before the 4 pm check in, a phone call to Karen to let her know and her welcome ethos began our 2 night stay. We were greated with a welcoming cottage; clean, French chic housing a living , dininig and cooking areas all open plan, an informal tour from Karen showed us all that we needed to enjoy our stay, complimentary homemade biscuits made a supper treat with a cup of tea, water in our rooms gave us the modern hotel expectations of a good establishment. A book filled us in with details of the area and expectations of our hosts and us the guest. The cottage is quiet and provides a sound sleep. Our mornings greated with an English breakfast using local/ fresh produce. (dippy eggs for me) and friendly welcome from Karen. We asked for preffered advice on tourist spots and wasn't disappointed. Our second night we accommodated our camping companions by cooking them a meal, 12 of us enjoyed the cottage and Karen again came to our rescue with additional crockery and parking arrangements allowing us to host a lovely dinner for our friends. An amazing place, an amazing setup this has provided a valuable memory that not only us but our friends will cherish, thank you Post house for this ! Wishing you all the best and enjoy all that want....

Perfect place for our romantic night away. The Suite was gorgeous, spacious and so nice to have our own lounge to relax in and enjoy our time.
Friendly welcome, we felt comfortable and relaxed straight away.

Our stay was perfect from start to finish. We recieved second to none service from B&B owner Karen. Home cooked food from fresh local produce in the form of fresh fruit and full English cooked breakfast to start in the mornings. The settings are romantic, relaxed and calming in the style of a french shabby chic and also very clean and comfortable. I loved the attention to detail from home made cookies in a jar and flowers in the vase to vintage hats in the courtyard The suite we stayed in features a free standing bath tub where you can enjoy a bubble bath soak and the view of the countryside at the same time. The courtyard and gardens are perfect to relax in the sun or enjoy a nice bottle of wine in the evenings. The B&B is perfectly located to near by Wells and Cheddar Gorge for days out and near enough to visit Bath. There are also some lovely country pubs serving amazing food near by to visit in the evening. We will definately be coming back here again on our anniversary as my Boyfriend proposed to me here! Definately recomend staying here. I imagine it would be so cosy in the winter time for long country walks and snuggling next to an open fire. over all very good value for money, food and amazing service.

The Old Bakery is the perfect romantic getaway. Karen was so welcoming and the restoration of the Old Bakery is just perfect, we loved the style and attention to detail. The courtyard felt so Mediterranean even on a dull day. Perfect location for visiting Wells or Bath. Would recommend without hesitation , far nicer than a hotel for half the price of one !

Its position on a main road belies the peacefulness of this gem. The conversion from an old post office and bakery to a warm and friendly home has been done to perfection - the soft lime plastering is mellow before it starts. Mellow too are the host and hostess - this is home from home. Ideal for walking in the Mendips - take the path up to Eaker Hill and you will find England at its best.

We spent the weekend at the Post House. This B&B is unique, very friendly and very well decorated. The owner, Karen, was very nice with us. She re-decorated herself this old bakery and post house and we could see the attention to details and all the passion she put into her B&B project.
She provided us with a lot of assistance for restaurant bookings and places to visit.
Everything is charming at the Post House. I recommend it.

My wife and I stayed in The Old Bakery - the adjoining self catering part of this lovely B&B. It is amazing!! Warm welcome from Karen the owner. Lovely very large barn conversion country feel with lots of authentic touches (beautiful stone fireplace, beams, wooden stairs, shutters, hand crafted kitchen with modern facilities - fridge, cooker and lovely crockery, cutlery and cooking stuff - everything you need). Subtle classic colours. The bedroom is just as lovely with fab ensuite bath and shower - best shower I have had in years with free posh shampoo etc. Extra thoughtful touches including fresh milk, coffee and tea and bottled water in the bedroom.
We cooked our own meal one evening and had it on the large oak table - like a king and queen!
100% recommend this unique self catering/B&B country house - we will be back soon!

Room Tip: Karen will serve breakfast for anyone using self catering - if you want it (we did our own bacon and...
