Marianella is a enjoyable place in a prime spot with nice views near the village of Catabbio, some 8 kilometers from Saturnia. The owner and his wife, while not speaking a word other than Italian, are some of the nicest people you can meet and they do their utmost to be as helpful as possible, using handgestures and facial expressions to make their point. They did manage to send us to a very nice local festival nearby, which we would have certainly missed without their directions.
Rooms are well appointed, although we found the bed a bit too hard for comfort and the view hampered by the outside curtains, which are probably mend to keep the temperatures lower (and don't succeed very well). Breakfast is excellent and creative and again, served with a smile.
However, there is a but, at least for people like us: the place is a real B&B without anything to keep you busy during the day. Scattered around there are some chairs in the garden, so you can enjoy the view and read a book, but to get a drink you have to go to the village and buy one in the local supermarket. And of course the place has no pool.
In short: we felt we were kind of forced to look for entertainment elsewhere and while that was not difficult to find, we prefer to be able to at least have the choice of staying "at home" sometimes.
This certainly is a nice place and the problem lies more with our expectations than with what is on offer, but next time we would probably look for another type of place.
