Under new management: very welcoming, very helpful couple. The villas are superb: airy, spacious, tastefully decorated and come with cooking-facilities and an luxurious outdoor-shower and bath. Very good value and extraordinarily nice hosts.

Somewhat recently returned from a fantastic three day stay at Magic Reef via the (one and only) Sunday night flight from LAX. This is an immaculately kept oceanfront property with nine separate spacious bungalows containing beautiful carved wood four poster beds, kitchenettes and outdoor showers (with both rainwater and pressurized heads) and sunken tubs. I was enjoying Unit No. 5 so much that I actually hesitated before accepting an upgrade to No. 1, which was “absolute” beachfront! While the complex is equally topnotch, the new and energetic owner, Angela, has a raft of great ideas waiting for Grace, Grace Ann, Brian and the rest of the staff to implement, which are sure to enhance the appeal of Magic Reef even further in the months to come. I was a solo traveler, en route (sans spouse) to visit my daughter at University in New Zealand, and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. Couples, presumably the substantial majority of guests, will find the property every bit as accommodating and enjoyable. I didn’t lodge anywhere else in Raro, but I did circumnavigate the island a few times and talked with a number of other travelers, and I am completely convinced that I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay in the Cooks than Magic Reef.

Have just returned from a magical week of relaxation at Magic Reef to celebrate 32 years of marriage with the love of my life.We stayed in an absolute beachfront bungalow, with gorgeous views, privacy and the the sound of the waves hitting the reef( not the bungalow to stay in if you don't like the sound of waves crashing). However, there is the choice of 9 bungalows, all with views of the beach/sea/palms. They are all angled in such a way that this is possible and are all close to the beach, as can be seen from our photos. Each has a kitchenette, outdoor shower and bath(inside toilet and vanity), four poster bed and dining/lounge area with a TV and DVD/CD player. There's a BBQ available for use, beach towels, snorkel gear and reef shoes on site, all free of charge. Angela and Simon and their staff are very friendly, approachable and helpful. We had a wonderful time, with the choice to do as much or as little as we wanted, we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, you just have to decide how close to the beach you want to be, on your door...

We arrived in the middle of the night to be greeting with fresh flower lays and a smiling driver. When sun rose the next day we realised we were in a magic place. Our beachfront bungalow was spotless, private and surounded by beautiful palm trees.
Angela is your host here, she just cannot do enough for you. There are two restaurants 5 minutes walk along the beach, and of course being on the west side of the island you are blessed by a beautiful sunset each evening.
I would highly recommend staying at Magic Reef and after checking out other accomodation on the island realised that I had picked the best. Can't wait to go back.

My husband and I recently stayed at Magic Reef Bungalows, and highly recommend it if you are looking for something quiet and intimate, low key and friendly. With only 9 bungalows, all with a view of the beach and the beautiful sunsets, it was the ideal setting for an idyllic relaxing holiday. We had one of the two bungalows that are directly on the beach, and it was such a treat to be only metres away from the water. The bungalows are well set up, with a small kitchenette, and a lovely private outdoor shower and bath. Angela and her staff did a wonderful job - the bungalow was serviced every couple of days, and Angela was a wealth of information on places to eat and things to do. Transfers to and from the airport were hassle-free, and a lovely breakfast was provided in our bungalow for our 5.30am arrival. Highly recommended.

I have recently stayed at Magic Reef Bungalows. The accommodation is first rate, spacious and clean and each bungalow having its own front deck. Clean linen and clean towels every couple of days and even the beach towels are provided for you. A small cooking area in each little kitchen area allows you to prepare your own meal if you wish, although there are plenty of restaurants around should you wish to eat out. The garden is a delight and there is pool should you wish to use it.
The lagoon is quite shallow so you can snorkel at high tide and rock shoes are available to use at no cost from Reception. There are a small number of well spaced bungalows and so its the perfect place for a peaceful holiday or quiet few days away
Angela and her staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
I can't wait til I return JB

Room Tip: All bungalows are good and the furthest from the beach is about 50 paces. Bungalows 1,2 are basicall...

This was a return visit to Rarotonga. Magic Reef Bungalows is like a world of its own. It is so quiet and peaceful. Amazing gardens. The pool set back from the beach is a great place to cool off. The outside bathroom is just fantastic. Although the lagoon is shallow, you can see some amazing fish snorkelling around when the tide is in. Magic Reef is on the Western side of the Island so you are not only sheltered from the prevailing winds but you also get to see some of the most beautiful sunsets. The staff were always so friendly and helpful. I fully recommend a stay at Magic Reef in lovely Aorangi, Rarotonga.

Room Tip: All of the bungalows have a view of the sea, but the closer to the beach you are the better the view...
