First trip to Rarotonga-CI. This place is the best possible combination of old/new. The hospitality and size of property and style of rooms reminds me off the best of old Hawaii--like Hawaii was 40 years ago. The food is good, and Jim, Jan, Lani, and others are wonderful, they do their best every day to make sure your vacation is a success. We will return and will definitely stay longer!

Low key, quiet, lovely stretch of beach, rooms were spacious, clean and all have a lovely ocean outlook. Atmosphere is relaxed, staff are friendly, the manager is one of a kind ( Basil Fawlty type), hilarious! Shipwreck restaurant with all its unique decor is a place to relax and rehydrate with Jims own cocktail recipes! We felt very comfortable and safe staying at this quaint place, and would do so again next trip. The bowl of tropical fruit was an unexpected treat!

Room Tip: The ocean sounds may be upsetting for some people, was great for me!

I have never written a review before, but I have just spent a week in Rarotonga and the highlight of my trip was a night spent having dinner and cocktails at Aro'a Beachside Inn. Aside from dinner being very good value ($30 for the whole dinner), it was absolutely delicious (lots of local ingredients and fresh fish, etc) accompanied by live music (piano and singing, so perfect for dinner) and set on a beach with the most amazing view of the sunset. The cocktails are also awesome - pina colada only $10 and better views than at some of the much more expensive resorts, with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!

I have traveled twice in the past 5 months to Rarotonga, Cook Islands. The first trip there, i stumbled onto a lovely and quaint property called Aro's Beachside Inn and its terrific owner, Jim. So i decided to stay there with my family on my next trip to Raro. Last week, i visited the COoks on business and stay at the the Aro.
The property is very casusal, clean, fabulous beach and thier Shipwreck Bar is a lot of fun. Jim tends bar and when he is not behind it, there is an honor system where the guests jot down the drinks they take and settle up when they check out. The rooms are clean, have a kitchen unit in them and a very good value. THe downside is there is no a/c and when its humid, as it was when i was there, it would have been nice to have it. THe units have several fans and you get a breeze off the ocean.

Overall, if you are looking for a clean place to stay, with a fabulous beach and and and owner with a great personalty, try the Ora Beachside Inn.

Room Tip: There are two adjoining rooms on the ocean front, room 107 and 108. Best locations

What a great place, spent New Years Eve with Jim and his bagpipes, nothing is too much trouble for Jan and Jim picked the hotel by chance and keep thinking how lucky I was. Sunsets to die for, water pale turquoise. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: These are cabins virtually on the beach, have all the amenities you need for this type of holiday

When we visited Raro in March 2012 looking for a wedding ceremony location we couldn't go past the beach outside A'roa Beachside Inn. We loved the atmosphere of the beach bar and the beautiful beach (which we thought was the best in Raro). When we came back to get married in October we stayed for a week and had such a lovely time. The staff were so helpful, friendly and accommodating. We loved our room and our front balcony overlooking the beach (which our friends staying elsewhere were super jealous of). Our wedding day was perfect - so relaxed and full of fun and joy, so thank you to the everyone there for making our day awesome. We can't wait to come back!!!
